Okay, glad to win but why in the world did three players contest a 3 pt shot, up by four, with three seconds remaining? Whew

Shot 61% in the second half, outscoring the Blue Hens by 11, 45-34. Exciting game. Nice win.

I thought that stretch was going to cost the Tribe the game. Tribe got up by 7, Nate gets a 2 minute rest, and the lead is gone. Wish Dane had kept him in there to get it over double digits. Took Nate a couple more minutes to get back in the flow when he returned, too.

These officials are making the game about them

Truly a terribly officiated game. Joey D had better be lobbying to get some good officials for the CAAT.

Probably Blair's most impressive game to date. We need that guy.

Yeah, I'm kind of shocked those terrible officials didn't call any fouls there (even though there were no fouls, since when did that ever stop them?)

Can't blame him one bit, but Loewe's technical foul was really costly. That made 4 fouls and after that he wasn't as aggressive on defense. I think Darling got at least 8 points after that (counting the 2 technical free throws).

Missing so many free throws was the other thing that could have bit our butt. Nate's percentage has really fallen the last few games; sometimes he looks like he loses concentration. Give credit to both Loewe and Blair for hitting huge free throws down the stretch. Van Vliet needs to practice his free throws now, too.

Lastly, Hope Bryce Barnes is all right. Charlie Woolum was guessing it might be his Achilles. That would be a killer!! Bryce has played great the last 2 games and we really need that. Plus, Scott is out right now too.

Maybe having Scott out caused urgency. Chemistry is better. Would like Scott back but Barnes needs to be the point.

Great team win! Contributions down the stretch from Hamilton, Blair, Barnes, Loewe and Knight. Van Vleit with one of his better games of late. Great touches and conversions in the paint. Awesome on the defensive boards again. Two "bad" turnovers, but that's not too bad given his total touches. Some truly horrendous calls from the officials. Big win!

Really hope Barnes injury not as bad as it looked. Didn't see an ankle or knee twist. The way he was pulled backward makes me think achilles, calf of hamstring. He has played so well the last two games.

Huge game from Knight, but I still have to point out that he had two offensive charges. We were fortunate he didn't pick up any defensive fouls or he would have sat more and we likely lose. Not to be a broken record, but if Knight averages two offensive fouls a game he's going to be in foul trouble more times than not. Scored easily all three times he caught the ball in post position. No reason not to get him more touches closer in. I know he's very capable on the drive, but every time he drives from the[/u] perimeter I'm holding my breath expecting someone to jump in front and take a charge.

With this win, the Tribe has 10 or more conference victories for the 7th straight year.

What a game! Loved the effort. Terrific 2nd half. Blair, Barnes, and Andy stepped up. Luke was steady on defense, particularly in the 2nd half. Nate is all-world. Refs were truly horrific...purely embarrassing for the conference.

This game had a playoff atmosphere.

I liked our offensive game plan. We got it to our big guys, inside the 3-pt line. Our 11 3-pt attempts must be close to a season low. I liked it, especially against this team.

Our perimeter defense is struggling. We couldn’t stop any penetration. We can’t beat a team like Hofstra, which has more athletic guards than Delaware, if we don’t get better on the perimeter.

We’re in trouble if Bryce’s injury keeps him out.

We are in big trouble if our only four healthy guards are Luke, Tyler, Miguel and Rainers. Tourney atmosphere today for sure. Darling is a beast. The loose ball foul on Nate was SO bad even Dane said it was BS to the ref! Would have been nice for Tony to have been in attendance today to see Marcus, but he probably didn’t want to take the focus off of Marcus’s big day. Huge game this Thursday at Towson. Hope to see both Bryce and Thornton in uniform.

A remarkable day at old Kaplan! Fantastic atmosphere, great crowd again. Intense back and forth game with many heroes and stunning plays.
Nate Knight sensational, along with Barnes a human blur, Van Vliet active on both offense and defense, Luke doing a great job on Darling in the second half, Quinn Blair coming of age in the clutch, and even Tyler Hamilton with a gutsy three pointer.

Barnes has hit a newer, higher level the past two games and let's hope he can play after what appeared to be a bad injury...perhaps we'll know more at Dane's luncheon at Anna's Brick Oven on Tuesday.

This was a big-time ballgame in a great atmosphere,

I will be honest... it feels like there have been a number of games where we talk about Quinn having his “best game”. I think some people are a bit too harsh on him.

He’s a sophomore, in his 3rd offense in 3 years, playing behind likely the best starting front court pair we will ever see at W&M, and being asked to play a very different role than he came here to play.

I think he’s been a key contributor in a number of games. Sure, he’s struggled when being asked to defend much bigger power forwards. And he lacks some quickness for true slashing wings. But he seems to always know where he is supposed to be, takes smart shots (ok, maybe a few too many 3s), and works hard every second he is on the court.

I suspect he will be one of those that gets better every year and we are very happy to have on this team as a senior.

I agree with this. I don't expect Quinn Blair to turn into a starter eventually, but if he continues to be an energy/hustle 1st man off the bench that's a valuable asset. His role isn't so much to be the focus of our offense or defense, but to do whatever is needed when he subs in, dependent on the game situation. He rebounds pretty well and attacks the basket if the defense underestimates him because he's not AVV or Nate. He'll have games where he's almost invisible, but it looks like his ceiling is a rotation player and you gotta have those to go with your stars. I'm not damning with faint praise here, it's really an important thing to have all the role players to surround your stars, and he's already filling that spot as a sophomore.

We stopped in Newtown for dinner on the way home post game, and as we were leaving Quinn and his mother were waiting to be seated. My wife made a point to stop and compliment him on his great game. His mother was thrilled, and Quinn very gracious!! He played strong when we needed it at the close of the game.

Refs sucked!! The bald guy should be booted, I hope he was not the head official.

Pretty lukewarm greeting for Huge at halftime. Is lukewarm the right word?

Also, with regard to Coach Shaver, are we sure he wasn't there? I couldn't see him myself, but it seemed like when Marcus was talking about him he was looking into the crowd at a specific spot. It would be consistent with his character for Coach Shaver to stay off the court because he thought it would take away from Marcus' moment, whether that's true or not. I haven't been able to find out for sure whether he was there or not, but it seemed like he might have been there, and he certainly got a (well-deserved) ovation from the crowd when Marcus said his name. It was really nice to see the players that could make it back, including Coach Boatner who got to be a former player for a little bit instead of a coach.

No way Shaver could have shown up without everyone knowing. If he was there it would have been obvious.

Agreed we need Bryce. Noticed on replay at the 11:16 mark of the 2nd when Bryce slipped and got called for the travel that he was noticeably limping. I think that was the initial injury and only made worse at the end of the game. Let's hope it's nothing structural and something that improves with rest. My attempt at body language reading from the trainer to Huge- it appeared to be a sprain.

My kid is a student there and she said Shaver was at the game. Marcus nodded in his direction while thanking him

Watched closely as to left the court and he was shoeless on the bad leg and limping but putting weight on it. Should be ready for DC and will be interesting how the coaches handle it for the next 3 games. The focus has always been on the Tournament but we also need to maintain momentum.....we will know Thursday

Maybe Rainers will emerge in ways we haven't seen yet, and just give us that much more solid depth to handle three games in three days in DC.
