The MEAC’s future
They are down to 10 members, 8 of which play football. That’s far from being dead but if they suffer any more defections they could be be in trouble.

If they do suffer more losses what’s the game plan? I don’t see any HBCUs sitting in D2 that look prepared to step up. Would non-HBCUs be willing to use them as a springboard?

The MEAC needs to keep travel costs down. If the Florida schools leave, they can backfill with VSU and WSSU and tighten the footprint.

Any non-HBCU would join the ASun, Summit, NEC, or WAC, depending on their location. MEAC would be a last resort if a school really wanted to go D1 and that’s assuming the MEAC would even take them!
