Why I will never fly in a helicopter. Something goes wrong you crash 9/10 times.

I'm still in shock. So sad. Peace and strength to the families who lost their loved ones.

Sad news. Been in a helicopter twice in my life; aerial tours of Aruba and of the Hoover Dam. Been a couple crashes in Hawaii in the last year also. Won't stop me from taking another helicopter tour though.

Thanks for serving. My uncle (RIP) was an Army Green Beret in Vietnam.

9 dead total. Another family that suffered greatly was the Altobelli family as the dad (John Altobelli), mom and one of their daughters all perished. He played baseball at Houston in 1984 and 1985, and was a grad asst. coach there in 1987 while completing his degree. He's been the baseball coach at OCC in Orange County for a long time.

RIP to everyone involved. And yes, helicopters and private planes just seem way too dangerous. I know someone whose 22-year-old son died in August as he was flying in a plane with 3 people total from Sugar Land to near San Antonio that crashed I guess due to a mechanical failure? He was heading off to begin his senior year of college.

Why I only fly in multi engine planes. It’s crazy. Yes a helicopter can auto rotate at a roughly 1:1 of mile of travel per thousand feet up but they usually only fly ~500 feet off the ground so there isn’t much time to pick a safe spot to crash.
