I do wonder what he's telling the players in the locker room. They have to know his job is on the line.
There's a reason I express my anger about this situation: I love JMU and I love MBB. I do not believe in blind loyalty. I think it can actually be dangerous if you want change. Filling the arena with a losing program validates what they've done to MBB.
What they need to be more concerned about are those that could care less about MBB. Those where JMU MBB is the farthest thing from their mind. They have lost those people and trying to bring those fans back is 100 times harder to bring back than an angry fan.

Good point. Lets be real here...JMU isn't going to fill up the new arena next year with a new coach or a winning program. It is going to be a real struggle to put butts in the seat, particularly from the student body. The CAA is not an exciting product. People are not interested in the Elons or Drexels of the world.

In the back of my mind I also think about what I read on here and see on tv, we don't even fill up the football stadium during the regular season or playoffs.

A few weeks back I posted something about NCAA attendance figures. Most schools struggle. Would a conference change help? Who knows.

What is the vision of the University? Spend a ton of dough on athletics in comparison to our peers? To what? Bring more attention to the University?

So many tangents and thoughts. I digress.

The fact that MBB is so bad right now and we still manage to get 2k people to a game is incredible.
No we won't sell out MBB right away and perhaps not ever. It certainly isn't going to fill with our current model.
As for CAA not being an exciting product... let's be real. We are part of the reason CAA isn't a good product right now. Many say FCS isn't an exciting product, yet we get 20k to a game. People don't go to the games to watch FCS teams, they go to watch JMU crush an opponent. If MBB becomes a winning product, people won't care who we face.
Make no mistake- there is a fan base there. JMU fans show up for the successful programs. Football, WBB, softball, soccer, lacrosse. You really don't think we can't a fan base to show up? Many JMU fans love basketball and cheer for other college teams. Football used to be that way. The culture has changed. To suggest that it cannot happen for MBB is silly.
It's not like people don't care about basketball anymore. They just don't care about JMU men's basketball. So the real question is what does the admin do to make JMU care about basketball again. Winning is the simple answer, but you are right in saying it won't happen overnight.
BUT the JMU admin needs to take their head out of their rear and realize they need to invest in coaching. Until they do that, we're going to be treading water and losing fans and the CAA has nothing to do with it.

JMU fans/supporters WANT MBB but there's nothing to attract a reliable fan base. Even the best fans in the Convo, The Pep Band seem to be seeing numbers decline. I'm a basketball junkie; will watch it anytime and anywhere, middle school rec at the YMCA, to HS, AAU to NCAA but I struggle to watch entire game of JMU MBB. It's painful. If you are going to suck and least try to put a style on the court that fun to watch. A little press to speed up the game would be nice.

Pass hold the ball until the defense adjusts, pass again diagonal to the corner, hold the ball wait for the defense to adjust, pass a third time and shoot a three. Does Coach know the term, "Keep it hot"? That didn't work so next time we'll drive the post into a 3 zone. Does Coach know the term "inside out"? How about "Motion"? How about "hands up"? How about "screen the high post"? Lack of Basketball 101 is killing this team and fundamentally bad basketball isn't fun to watch as a fan.

You want to know what fan/supporters want? WINS!!! Rowe tried speeding up the pace and it didn't work. We are top 3 in scoring so that should bring fans back, shouldn't it?
This team is so bad scheme is meaningless right now. Like you said, they lack 'Basketball 101' skills. Those are skills the coaches have to help develop. If the players aren't developing simple skills, how in the hell are they supposed to do more complex things better? The answer is simple: they don't.
A higher pace or a more exciting game plan are nice ideas, but fans don't care about those things if they result in Ls. Fans will support a team if they win and play well in the tournaments. They could score in the upper 50s and win and the fans would show up in greater numbers than the team that scores in the upper 70s/80s and loses all the time.

Lewis gets beat way too often- wilson will always be limited in that regard all the more reason to have him paired with a big who can play defense. The young guys are young guys they can make up for some things with their length and athleticism and block some shots but they have work to do in terms of where to be.

No Harvey last night. Rowe said at the press conference last year that everything was on the table in terms of lineups and rotations. Start Flowers- play more harvey if he defends.

Can we rotate the head coach?

How about Coach takes a game off and let the guys play street ball?

So... change nothing?
