NASA was started in 1958, the same time the keel for the USS Enterprise was being laid. Coincidence? I think not.

Trouble is the 'new' Enterprise (you know, like NCC-1701-A vs 1701) is still under construction and won't be replaced for a few decades....

I will say that I made it a habit to know who iowa was playing and what the final score was when I was wearing that logo. when people asked me how we did, they were usually asking about the hawkeyes. it was easier to just answer the question than try to explain the mystery.

It's that way in the fire service too.

After many years of pushing our department finally allowed each individual station to design a station tshirt with their own logo on it. At my station we went simple with the department patch on the front with an arched "ENGINE" around our engine number on the back. Simple but professional design.

Right after the shirts came in we were at multi-company drills when some of the guys from other stations with intricate designs asked why we didn't do something cooler. My backseater looked at them and deadpanned "We were too busy fighting fire to break out our crayons and draw something." We never got asked about our tshirts again.

I thought the logo looked pretty cool... don't really see the issue

The funny thing is, the vision of our future society seen in Star Trek is pretty much what liberals CLAIM they want to get to---they just dont realize that the policies liberals push would destroy the freedoms, drive, and creativity needed to get there. I think its pretty cool the logo emulates some of the design cues seen in the Starfleet logo.
