This is why I love bowl games. NO one knows how they will end. Which ones will be great. Which ones will be duds. This isn't a Shakespearean tragedy where the outcome is known in advice. There aren't any Cliff Notes for bowl games, either.

And I would tell anyone: If it is good, watch it. If it is bad, turn it off.

The 2019 Quick Lane Bowl was a good one.

Our game against Central Connecticut State was also on this list, specifically for Sexton's game winning blocked punt. I think somewhere in the 60s.

The Illinois game was 76.

I want to repeat a point I may have made before re: recruiting.

A bowl game gives the U a chance to showcase itself across the nation. That is true.

It also is a showcase for recruiting, specifically players EMU may have interest.

That said, Pittsburgh was an ideal opponent because it is located in a geographical area (western Pa) where we'd like to recruit and also close to eastern Ohio where we recruit hard.

In that respect Pitt was a better opponent than say a school like Oregon State or Kansas or Kansas State or N. Carolina State and so on.

None of those schools are located in states or areas we recruit hard.

A lot of recruits from Ohio and Western Pa. are players we recruit and we recruit against many MAC teams. This game is a + in recruiting battles vs. say Akron, Kent, Ohio, UB, etc.

You are correct.

I believe the best explanation of our recruiting is quite simple:

1) We recruit MI, OH, IN, and IL because they are close and our primary and secondary recruiting bases. This is true of most MAC teams.

2). We recruit other states based, seemingly, on the background of the asst coaches. We've recruited Oklahoma, and now Colorado. We have an asst coach with strong Colorado roots and bingo a couple CO WRs will be joining the team.

3). We don't have any coaches with strong roots in states like Pa, CA, etc. hence we don't do well in those states with h.s. recruits.

4). One of the things an asst coach brings is a knowledge/background in a particular state or two. If we hire an asst coach from a school like Robert Morris, then we might have an 'in' with western Pa kids.
