RE: Special Announcement for Tribe Hoops
Just a rumble/rumor, at this point, but there is talk that Tony Shaver may be back in the college coaching ranks next season.

Looking around for some solid facts, nothing yet, but the rumor is going round...

That would be great news for Tony and for W&M.

Don't forget about ODU, if Jones isn't retained. They are not doing good!!

Well, he wouldn't have to sell his home. There's that.

Should be one of the most memorable days ever at Kaplan. The Kap should be packed!

The survey about the new version of our MBB arena was over a year ago. Would think this will be the topic.

"...one of the most memorable." He didn't say THE most memorable.

Agree - good point as long as we beat Delaware on 2/15! We could be deep enough into the season by then where a victory could clinch 1st for the regular season with only 3 games left to play!

RE: Special Announcement for Tribe Hoops
So was the special announcement retiring Marcus Thornton's number? I never saw a followup.

I think there is a "special announcement" coming on 1 Feb before the basketball game... which I assume is different than what was already announced (the jersey retirement).

Yeah, if it ends up looking anything like the pictures, it's gonna be really impressive.

Isn't that pretty standard? It's usually up to the donors, but they tend to want their names announced

I haven't read the announcement yet to see the names but I was at the game. I thought that the recognition of the donors was extremely poorly done. There were 3 or 4 couples on the floor but the only names I heard mentioned by either Rowe or Huge were the Kaplans. So, whoever those other 3 couples were, none of us in attendance had any idea. They should have called up each couple one at a time, introduced them, and allowed for the appropriate applause. I can't help but think that the other 3 couples felt somewhat slighted by how it went down.

I agree, I thought the whole overall announcement was poorly handled, beginning graphics did not impress, soun d system was malfunctioning, donor recognition was ackward, players marched in and lined up around the gym looked hokey, graphic of the renovated facility could have been more informative - what is considered to be the "front" /entrance of the renovated facility? But, great news for W&M athletics nevertheless!!

RE: Special Announcement for Tribe Hoops
The majority of funds have been provided by leadership gifts from Katie Garrett Boehly '95 and Todd Boehly '96, as well as Jennifer Tepper Mackesy '91 and D. Scott Mackesy '91.

It was clearer on TV, but, I agree, it would have been better to introduce them separately.
