Rats are jumping ship and I don't blame them. They see the writing on the wall. Another 7-5ish season in 2020 and everyone is fired. Simple as that.

Agreed. He was a winner. His teams were tough and physical.

Bower won 9 games the year before he was let go. Fedora only won 7,7, 8 games in his first three years. The Karma created by the way Jeff Bower was treated will live with USM football. I agree Hopson is not the answer, but as broke as USM is, he isn't going anywhere.

I'll say it again: Bower won zero CUSA championships his last 4 years at USM. That's why he was fired. It was necessary. Who knows how things would've turned out had he not been fired. The Fedora hire proved to be a good hire because in his 4 years he won a championship in 2011...the first one since 2003. The problem was the conservative hire of Eloss Johnson. And it's so obvious we've made the same mistake with Hopson. Hop has just benefitted and gained more W's due to the fact that CUSA is a shell of it's former self.

I dont believe you realize the same could be said for CUSA 2005-2009. As a conference CUSA just wasnt very good and was just a shell of itself, without Louisville, Cincy and TCU. So a person looking at it with out any skin in the game could point out Fedora got most of his wins just as Hopson has.

Sorry, but even the early years of CUSA 2.0 were far better than most of the garbage we play against now. Our conference may have no had ranked teams, but the talent level was far better across the board.

While CUSA 2.0 was overall better than the last couple years. I think 2014, 2015, 2016 the conference championship game doesnt change with any 2.0 CUSA team playing in 3.0 during those years. Marshall and Tech were very good teams in 2014, same can be said for Western and S. Miss in 2015, and again in 2016, Western and Tech in 2016

But that was not what I said...

my point was compared to Jeff Bower, Larry Fedora got most of his wins vs worst talent/schools . The same way Hopson has.

Larry Fedora didnt have a lot of "good wins" in 3 out of 4 seasons.

2008
S.Miss had 7 wins with 3 of those over SBC schools, 2 of those had a .500 record

UCF and UAB both 4-8, SMU 1-11 and ECU 9-5

2009
s. Miss had 7 wins
FCS, Marshall 7-6, UCF, 8-5, Memphis 2-10, Tulane 3-9, Tulsa 5-7, Virg. 3-9

2010
S.Miss had 8 wins
Kansas 3-9, TECH 5-7, Marshall 5-7, Memphis 1-11, Tulane 4-8, UFC, 11-3, Houston 5-7, FCS

And my argument is that those CUSA 2.0 teams were better than any of these teams we’ve faced since the changeover. The talent level is incredibly different.

You can argue it or maybe I should say voice your opinion because that's all you did so far, all you want to. It still wont change the facts S. Miss did not face a 2.0 team that was ranked in the AP from 2005 through 2009.

Your opinion doesn't change mine that no team in 2.0 from 2005-2012 would have changed the outcome of CUSA champs in 2014, 2015, 2016. That includes S. Miss in 2011.

But hey I'm sure those 1-11 and 2-10 and 3-9 and 4-8 CUSA 2.0 schools that S. Miss beat were loaded with talent 04-jawdrop

RE: USM football OC leaving for UGA
I'm not caring about rankings at this moment, I'm talking pure talent level. Recruiting of CUSA 2.0 makes 3.0 look amateur. WKU ran through a terrible CUSA and got ranked. I'm happy for them, but that wouldn't have happened in 2.0. They would have had it put on them by plenty of teams with better offenses and better skill position players at most positions.

I'm not saying WKU wasn't good. They were. But 2.0 teams were generally better from a talent perspective, which led to parody between teams and led to less end of year rankings. Unfortunately for your argument, it didn't lead to less rankings overall, as teams like Houston, East Carolina, Tulsa, and UCF all earned rankings at some point during the season during those listed years. Teams just beat them.

Also, you're more than welcome to your opinion, but the 2011 Southern Miss team (and Houston and ECU and UCF and SMU) would have make your WKU championship team look silly. Our defense would have shut your offense down like the garbage it was. Our 2015 team turned the ball over in the second half, which led to our defeat. Our 2011 team would make our 2015 team look like high schoolers. Y'all weren't phenomenal, you were fine. You can try to imagine how fantastic they were, but CUSA in 2011 could compete with P5 schools and did beat P5 schools. How many P5 victories did WKU have that didn't have losing records?
