At least UCF can only get to 8 losses this week. Next week makes that moot, though.

UConn week. Since joining the American, UH holds an 8-3 H2H record against the Huskies. Notable games include the two teams first AAC conference game in which a mediocre James Dickey coached UH team knocked off the future national champs 75-71. The following year after an 0-9 start to conference play, UH would notch their first conference win in the Kelvin Sampson era by beating the Huskies 70-68. Under Sampson the Coogs are 7-2 against the lowly Huskies, including last years 39 point blowout in the AACT quarter final and the two teams 2016-17 conference opener which saw UH jump out to a 36-12 halftime lead on the Huskies home court (largest deficit UConn had faced at halftime at home). Hopefully even after UConn's move to the NBE, these two storied programs can continue this one sided rivalry.

Penny, during his presser today, mentioned more than once the difficulty presented by Tulsa’s zone defense.

I hate it playing against zones. Do they play any man to man?

Penny only discussed their zone. Perhaps Tulsa fans can provide the answer.

We switch defenses.

We run a man to man and two versions of the match up 3-2 I expect you get what I call the chase version instead of the slide. We tend to use the chase when you have only one or two shooters on the floor and the slide when you put a bunch on the floor at once. Chase will see the wing defender follow the offensive player across the baseline. The slide will see us hand off the cutter and communicate the switch to the short corner or opposing wing.

We also have a 1-2-2 three quarters and half court trap that we run we fall back into zone or man, although the zone is more frequent.

It seems like more and more teams are responding to the NCAA rule changes by playing zone defense and switching defenses this season.

Unfortunately for my Owls, Cincinnati has the following advantages in tonight’s game: Cumberland who’s physical style we struggle with; and two strong bigs who can score and rebound, an area we are weak in. If Brennan can get a zone defense going, it will be worse. I do not see a good outcome for Temple.

We never play well in philly. We usually just eek out a win.

I hate playing teams who are in the dumps at home. Temple will look at it as a chance to right their ship and most likely plays well.

UC sucks on the road. If I had to pick I’d go Temple. But I think it’s close

I hate playing in Philly, we are 0-2 there since joining. We lost both times there when we were ranked 16th btw.

If we don't win tonight, I am going to lose my mind.

ECU had a disaster week last week. Essentially erased all the good feelings I had with 2 awful games. So it's time to see which is closer to the real ECU the team from the first 3 conference games that looked extremely competitive or the team from the last 2 that looked like a dumpster fire.

Preview of today’s lone AAC game from the “Wichita Eagle”:
https://www.kansas.com/sports/college/wi...60603.html

I did not know USF leads the AAC in scoring defense and ranks 41st nationally.
