I don't really see them making or breaking any MAC teams schedule. Certain MAC coaches seem to prefer scheduling cupcakes to pad their win totals. Those coaches would prefer to schedule lower rung Horizon teams as they require less travel and have a greater chance of winning.
The ones who do want to build a more challenging schedule have plenty of options of teams to choose who are closer to them and are equally as good as UMass. In some cases much better. Some of those teams would be pretty much the entire MVC, WKU, Marshall, NKU, Wright State, and Duquesne. If UMass builds their program back up more and can become a consistent top 125 team, you'll probably see more MAC teams try to work H&H into the football deals.
Your right about that, it is more about scheduling, which some teams find hard getting home and home games. We are very young and have two good freshmen out this season. That said, we beat a good team today that was 15-3 and 5-1 in the A10. You know the Zips x-coach Keith Dambrot. UMass 73-64 Duquesne. We are very young and time will tell.
Yes, you guys have some nice, young players. I saw them when you guys visited the JAR earlier this year.

That was a very good game to watch and you guys 100% earned the win by executing down the stretch. You have a very good team.

Did you notice ...
Can someone remind these UMass fans they had their chance to join. School said no. If I was a MAC school I have no incentive to schedule them at all.
Go play in your own sandbox. Our teams are doing just fine.
As far as scheduling it takes two. Horizon league schools make sense. You can get there by bus and get home and sleep in your own bed after the game. That matters from a cost perspective.
MAC is always going to be a one bid league for reasons we can’t change

RE: Did you notice ...
Spoken by fan of the MAC West. Especially like the MAC East. Toledo is good but the west teams are not a days drive or in a nice sunny location.
The MAC got an at-large bid to the NIT. What is needed is a team consistently in the top 25, another in the top 40 and a few more around the top 60-70 range. The bottom of the MAC has dramatically improved in the last six years. Not that it matters, but the ultimatum came when the A10 was at it's peak with 6 big dance bids. We all agree that shipped sailed. This is scheduling convenience. Think Steinbrecher is a great commissioner and the plan adopted around 6 years ago has helped. But getting those home games has a bit of challenger for some teams.
