Star Trek: Picard
A tv series on CBS starting January 23. The premise of the show is that Admiral Jean Luc Picard left Star Fleet to live on his family estate (presumably after Nemesis). 20 years later, he is called back into action by a rag-tag band of non Federation misfits.

Old Star Trek Alum including Brent Spiner, Johnathan Frakes, Jeri Ryan and others will be making guest appearances or possibly recurring appearances in the series scheduled to go 3 seasons.

So, who’s ready to boldly go on Star Trek’s next adventure?

I'm in. Currently going through Star Trek Enterprise season 3.

For anyone that doesn't know, a CBS Sports/247 subscription includes CBS All Access.

It had a lot of Fanservice for old school TNG Trekkies, so I'll wait till mid-season to pass judgement.

RE: Star Trek: Picard
I've seen 6 episodes and I have to say I like it. It *feels* like Star Trek. The story line seems a little slow but hopefully they are building up towards the end of the season.

Fortunately they are not trying to make 79 year old Patrick Stewart an action star.

Data, Seven and Hugh have made appearances. Riker and Troi have been in previews. It's nice to see them but I hope they don't make this into a reunion tour.

I wish there was more of the Star Trek humor in it.

RE: Star Trek: Picard
It's not completely rancid like Discovery, but it sure isn't TNG.

1) F-bombs, cursing was rare to nearly non-existence in any other ST series.
2) The Federation is now a dystonian nightmare version of itself.
3) People talk like they are early 21st Century Millennials, "Hell yea!"
4) It's a suspense murder mystery set in space, not a SciFi adventure series.

If I suspend everything I know from 5 so-called "prime" universe ST series and 10 "prime" universe movies, then this is probably the best out of the 2 post JJ Abrams "alternate" universe series and 3 movies. That said, it's not ST. It's an early 21st century suspense show wrapped in a TNG veneer.

Sorry not a big fan of this one. I am not sure if they are running out of story lines or what. I think that they should just leave this alone and not make anymore.

RE: Star Trek: Picard
I believe this series will lead to recreating Commander Data. In the movie Nemesis, Data's knowledge and memories were downloaded (uploaded?) to an android, B-4. He was unable to properly use them because he was a prototype of and an inferior model to Data. B-4 was shown disassembled at the Daystrom Institute in episode 2 of Picard. The android twins were created with flesh and blood, so there's the possibility that Data's memory will be restored to a body that's practically human.

Saw the season’s last episode. They can go ahead and end the series, there is no major loose ends that really need to be tied. Overall I liked the series except they just had to gay up the ending. End it now! “Make it so.”

You know what’s actually surprising good. And it may be as good as any of the spin offs. You’ll probably think Seth Macfarlane, how could this work. It’s certainly comedic, but it evolves much more into a serious show, especially in season 2. Feels like the original Star Trek at times too and it’s not even part of Star Trek. Just my opinion.
