But we won more than last year and appear to be moving up. Can you say the same?

Absolutely. Next year we wont be tanking.

How many players actually redshirted after 4 games that had not already planned to do so? Not counting King, who eventually quit.

I think the total number still with the team is 35. No idea how many would have red shirted anyway. I do know some were sitting anyway due to transfer. Many were freshman who would have redshirted anyway. Some more of the red shirts were injury related. My feeling is this whole tanking thing is way overblown. I always had the feeling it wasnt a plan---but a reaction to the King decision to red shirt. Its looking like my suspicions were pretty on point. My guess is the number of kids who red shirted that would not have red shirted had King left is somewhere between 5-10.

Next year the back end of the defense will be immeasurably better due to the transfers that were sitting this year. The OL will be much better becasue we wont be playing freshman on the OL like we had to this year. Freshman on the OL is almost always a very bad thing for an FBS team. The rest of the units should be as good or better than they were this year. UH will be a bowl team next year at the very least---and should be playing meaningful football late in the season as far as the CCG goes.

Maybe a better way to ask is, after King, how many players who would have finished the season, instead stopped and redshirted after that fourth game?

I tend to agree that it wasn't as much of a tank as many seemed to label it. I thought the number who voluntarily stopped after King quit was something like 2 or 3, maybe 4 max.
