I also kinda wonder how many fans might’ve been discouraged by previous ticket prices/availability in a JMU/NDSU matchup and didn’t plan on making the trip but would have if it were in a 30-35k stadium.

I don’t know though, it’s hard to put your finger on why tickets were the way they were this time. JMU filled that stadium by ourselves(basically) in 2016. NDSU has done the same. Just a matter of getting tough for people to make the trip over and over and over? Same location over and over? There certainly didn’t seem to be any drop off in excitement for JMU football in general this year.

I think weather cost JMU 500-1000 fans, if I had to guess.

I also think A LOT of people decided to not even attempt to get tickets this year due to the assumption of high prices/limited availability. Once they saw affordable tickets, flights had already spiked in cost.

There certainly didn’t seem to be any drop off in excitement for JMU football in general this year.

Statistically there was a drop in attendance almost universally across the board in college football. Some of the more rabid fan bases stemmed the decline some, but even JMU and NDSU etc. saw average home attendance decline year over year.

It makes sense that having to travel across the country would also result in a similar attendance decline.

Having a slightly bigger stadium would be good. How many people would decide to go last minute if there were "walk-up" sales available? I understand a small stadium creates a demand but buying tickets in what, August is pretty stupid. Put them on the market in mid November when the playoffs start.

They had roaming beer guys all throughout the stadium this year and even were going into the seats to sell so someone heard fans if that was a previous complaint.

They were part of the August sale, but priced at $250 each this year by NCAA. The school allotment seats are a bargain in comparison.

I said 2017 (season) that JMU/NDSU could fill a 30k stadium in Frisco. Some eve said 35k. Not anymore. Say if JMU and NDSU made it again next year, and you could wave a magic wand and make Toyota stadium 25k/no bad weather the day prior. I don't think would fill it.

Back in 17' tickets (before all the fees) were $75? People bought in August & as I recall on here, were selling them after NDSU & JMU won the semis the $200s and $300s. I think as far as Frisco goes, the days of buying tickets in August, and selling them for 3-4x+ face value, maybe even 2x face value, are over, even if was NDSU/JMU.

I know tickets were $85, but weren't people paying $99 + fees in Aug? And then when you sell them, the NCAA site, Stub Hub, Vivid, ext take a big cut, so you lose out on both ends (ticket sites are such a racket). Don't see them being big $$ makers for people anymore.

I bought tickets on the NDSU side in August, intending to use them.

Sold in December after the semis for approx 50% profit, and purchased on JMU side a bit later for lower cost. Worked out great. I will be buying again this August.

There are no broker fees paid by the seller on Flash Seats, buyer pays fees. It’s also very easy since seats are digital.

Don’t know if everyone will be able to get 2X, because timing matters. But there are still good reasons to buy in August.

Yes - though believe could have done better, I hesitated a bit to sell and considered sitting on the bison side. Didn’t sell until I knew I had some seats in the JMU allotment. Also I didn’t get greedy, and sold towards the bottom of the listing prices at the time.

I do think *some* sellers made 2X or more in the first couple days. But that is probably not the average anymore, and if you time things wrong (buy immediately after semis and sell later) it is certainly possible to take a loss. Like many markets, it’s all about timing.
