App St. is probably well positioned to continue to dominate the Sun Belt but you put them in the AAC and it will be growing pains. See most of the current AAC who went through similar growing pains to become more competitive. Their market is great for hiking and skiing.

Army is up and down so I am not certain they make sense. They got man handled in CUSA year in a year out.

Air Force..maybe? but is it sustainable?

Boise St by all accounts is the most prepared to compete day 1 in the AAC.

BYU could compete but not as strong as Boise St.

Colorado St and San Diego St. and UNLV would probably struggle similar to App St. initially.

Pretty much agree with everything you said other than SDSU, they would compete well from the beginning and will only get better with a presence in Texas and Florida in particular for the recruiting that will be available to them for football.

... and if they wer to join as All Sports + Football they would also have access to Eastern basketball recruits.

Georgia State, new stadium, largest available market in AAC footprint, largest available new recruiting area in AAC footprint, largest available student enrollment in AAC footprint...

Most of their expansion has occurred since 2000.

Just like SUNY Buffalo it would be a major mistake for the AAC to overlook Georgia State...

OK, now Que Panama

I live in Atlanta. All of those stats you mentioned may be true and would mean something if you were talking about Georgia Tech, but Georgia State gets zero buzz in this town.

Cincinnati use to Get NO buzz in Ohio much less Cincinnati and look at them now. They are the 2nd best team in the state. There are enough students and enough people around the city that rep Atlanta hard and would be more than willing to rep THEIR city's university.
    Sports Competition in Cincinnati:
  • Ohio State?
  • Bengals
  • Reds?
    Sports Competition in Atlanta:
  • UGA
  • Georgia Tech
  • Atlanta Falcons
  • Atlanta Braves
  • Atlanta Hawks

It's just a tad different.

Cincinnati also has to deal with:
University of Kentucky Big Blue
Xavier in the same city
Louisville(only 20min longer drive than OSU)

And a small amounts during basketball:
Northern Kentucky
Dayton
Miami University

UAB ...
1. Solid fanbase ... Fans actually attend hoops tournaments
2. Great location ... I recommend a USA map for most on this thread
3. Big metro area ... no Pro competition
4. History ... With current AAC teams
5. New football stadium in 2022
6. Refurb on 8k basketball game stadium
7. They want in !!!

Come on... Appy State is disqualified from the voting for obvious reasons.

ETA: oh, my... looks like ALL of those schools have cheated... maybe that's what we want?

Russians have hacked the polls, but who are we to dispute the results?

I say either Rice or Texas State. Both are located in a talent-laden state, and with the right athletic director and resources, each could make a huge impact.

Rice, of course, is in Houston. Texas State, on the other hand, is located pretty much in between Austin and San Antonio.

Oh I misread the question. Anyone could rise to our quality level but in what time frame? By the end of the waiver? Then none.
