I stated from the get go that King was a quitter. That anyone worth anything would not quit on their team mid season if healthy.

Certain Houston posters roundly criticized me for saying so. I turned out to be correct. King was a quitter.

Dana is either really dumb and honestly thought King quit to return next year, and covered for him, or he knew that King was gone and covered for him anyways just to not make it seem like his QB just quit on him 4 games into the season.

Either way, horrible look for both of them.

I guess the question I would ask is if your player comes to you after 4 games and says he wants to transfer....what is the coach really supposed to do?

Sure you could pull the schollie and kick him off the team which might make the fans happy...but how will upcoming recruits see that?

If you did that, then wouldn't other players just fake an injury in the future?

You really aren't going to get any value from that scholarship that semester. I suppose you could give it to a non-scholarship player but then you lose that scholarship for the upcoming year.

I don't really think there is anything the coaches can do in that situation that will have a positive outcome for the team.
