Sun Belt Tournament
I had forgotten how it will work this year, but was wondering why we only received one postseason ticket with our season ticket package. It makes sense after looking at this which I found on the internet:
2020 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament Formats
Saturday, March 7, 2020
Game 1 - No. 10 Seed at No. 7 Seed (Campus Site)
Game 2 - No. 9 Seed at No. 8 Seed (Campus Site)
Monday, March 9, 2020
Game 3 – Game 1 Winner at No. 6 Seed (Campus Site)
Game 4 – Game 2 Winner at No. 5 Seed (Campus Site)
Wednesday, March 11, 2020
Game 5 – Game 3 Winner at No. 3 Seed (Campus Site)
Game 6 – Game 4 Winner at No. 4 Seed (Campus Site)
Saturday, March 14, 2020
Game 7 – Game 5 Winner vs. No. 2 Seed (Smoothie King Center)
Game 8 – Game 6 Winner vs. No. 1 Seed (Smoothie King Center)
Sunday, March 15, 2020
Championship Game (Smoothie King Center)
So 11 and 12 are out. 10 and 9 play on the road. 8 and 7 play at home and then go on the road if they win. 6 and 5 play at home and then go on the road if they win. 3 and 4 play one at home and then go to New Orleans with a win. 1 and 2 go straight to New Orleans. I kind of like this set-up. However, it all changes next season when the tournament moves out of the New Orleans and all 12 teams go to the tournament once again.

RE: Sun Belt Tournament
A 1 or 2 slot will sure make travel planning easier. I'd be quite satisfied with a 3 or 4 slot for the men. It would be a heck of a lot of fun if we had ASU coming here, with the winner getting a trip to New Orleans.
Really don't have a great sense of how our women stack up this year. I tend to believe they will end up at or near the top. Considering we have won 38 straight conference games at home, a 3rd or 4th place finish would make our odds of going to New Orleans pretty darn good. Of course, not as a good as a 1st or 2nd place finish.
The men need to turn things back around, but this weeks road trip is really tough. I would take a split, in second, but I think we need Markquis to do that. I do think that with the addition of Marko, we have a line-up that will matchup well against with most any midmajor in the country. Really don't know if Nikola eventually replaces Ruot or Kamani in the starting line-up. I am even less sure where Kris fits in if he returns. Regardless, having 4 quality "bigs" is a problem any midmajor coach in the country would like to have.

I despise that style of tournament. Just have a regular tournament! Glad it’s returning to the real thing next year.

I'm not sure making it easier, for the teams with the best regular season records, to win the tournament is not the "fairest" way to do it. I certainly will feel that way if we finish in the top 4 this season.

Definitely easier to like it when you have a triple bye, sure. I guess I’m just a big purist tournament junkie.

RE: Sun Belt Tournament
Speaking of next year, I read somewhere that this is the last time the tournament will be held in New Orleans.
Any word on where they are going to have it next year? Think we have a chance to bring it back to Hot Springs?

Won’t be in Hot Springs. Nothing decided but I have heard Pensacola mentioned by a couple of folks.

Thanks to RBL for putting this on the SunBeltbbs site:

Looks like Tunica or Southaven, MS would be the most convenient sites for our fans. ASU fans would definitely like that. I'd be fine with going to Pensacola Beach for several days in March.

Per the link article, Pensacola is not the only city in the running for hosting the conference. Pennington said other cities applying to host the tournament were Southaven, Mississippi; Beaumont, Texas; Huntsville, Alabama; Jackson, Mississippi; Tunica, Mississippi; and Montgomery, Alabama.

The arena in Tunica looks like it is set up for horse shows and rodeos, rather than basketball. The site does acknowledge this, but also says it can host other sporting event. Not sure if this is a viable option or not, but it would be convenient for us.
