You received two votes. R-e-l-a-x.

Yeah - it's pathetically predictable. I'd love for the votes to be unblinded, it would be enlightening...

I can see who's voted what. Let's just say you shouldn't be throwing stones. At all.

I admit I voted for UCF's stadium. You guys freaking sued because it was so poorly built! And it's the worst of the stadiums I've been in. That's not a vote based on fandom, it's a vote based on the fact that the stadium is so unsound it literally bounces.

Say what you want about RJS (and your equivocation about how it shouldn't even be eligible), but nobody can rationally say it's the worst stadium in the conference. Every seat is a chairback, it has state of the art video boards and sound, it's hosted the NCAA CFP title game and 2 (soon to be 3) Super Bowls.

I agree with you, having similar prospective I went to the UCF vs Georgia Liberty Bowl in 2010. It certainly was dated. Having gone back again in 2018 for Memphis vs UCF, I can say there have been some improvements (added chairback seating, new turf, new jumbotron, etc,). One improvement that wasn't done (that should've been a must IMO) was that there were no TVs mounted around the concourse by the vending areas so you could keep tabs on the action. Definitely skimped out there. Overall the Liberty Bowl stadium isn't bad, and certainly can be a loud-intimidating venue when it's packed, but I would like to see some more improvements made. If they could somehow build in some open deck patio areas, that would help too (maybe behind both endzones where it's the closest to the field with the fewest rows?).

Then you didn't look hard enough. They are over the shoulders of those serving you food and drink in the established vendor spaces (IOW, not over the beer dispensaries).

No the 2 most vital improvements needed for the Liberty Bowl are, in order:

* Raze and rebuild the press box - it is complained about by every visiting broadcast crew, in addition to our own.
* Expand chairback seating - we have about 8000 too many seats in that bad boy. But that would probably be not preferred by the AutoZone LB folks.

They seem to think they need 58K for their bowl. I disagree, but whatevs.
But we (University of Memphis) need season ticket pressure, and you just can't get it with people thinking "Naaaa.... I'll just get tickets at the window the day of." and they be right.

I was thinking the same on the chairback seats. Upgrade all to chairback seating and reduce capacity to 50-53k total. Much more in line with ECU and only a bit larger than UCF (and UCF may end up expanding to 50k before too long also. I think the Liberty Bowl could rival Louisville's Cardinal Stadium by going all chairbacks and by rebuilding a modern press box/suites. Add a couple patios and TVs in the concourses and suddenly the LB could be challenging to be the best venue outside the Power 5 and better better than many inside the P5. I'm all for it!

Was just thinking too, that covered seating area underneath the east side box suites would be a perfect place to build out a patio deck (shielded from the rain/sun largely), and would help reduce capacity by stopping the row of seats going up that side farther down. With a new press box ok the west side you could possibly create the same covered patio on that side too, and either have it open to all, or tie it in as premium seating similar to the Cabana Club patio sections at UCF.

Pipe down fanboy you barely averaged 33,000 in 2019. That was announced and we all know there was less in there. NFW you get to 45K next year.

From the WSJ about 2017 season:

Quote:ECU season announced attendance: 257,090 (36,727 announced average attendance per game)
Actual tickets scanned: 125,132 (17,876 actual per average attendance per game)

Someone has to pay for all those additions and amenities

Quote:Cash flow deficits in the athletics department are expected to total $33 million between 2018-21, according to an internal financial report provided to ECU leadership in March. To shore up its finances, the athletics department said in December it had drawn $20 million from other university-affiliated funds, including $10 million from the ECU Physicians practice group.

Clearly you have no reading comprehension or are totally illiterate. We had arguably one the worst hire in history and the fans were protesting by not going to the games. Heck one of the med school doctors were flying banners on game day to fire the AD and coach. By 2021 we will be back over 45,000 and can guarantee Syracuse won’t. We averaged over 45k in CUSA playing utep and the likes of UAB. In our worst times we still averaged better than small fry Syracuse and they played the national champs and in the ACC. We also didn’t pull 10 million from our med school like you posted so good job with the fake news. Maybe we should have cheated and still sucked like Small fry U in the big least.

Go back to the big east board and work on your small fry problems while you drag down the big east football attendance.

Basic layout of the LB is still good. Its aged very well. Needs a new press box and sky box's in the worst way. Best part of the LB is access. It's very easy to get in and out on game day and parking is not an issue. The improvements to the old fairgrounds and adding Tiger Lane was the best game day experience change. I'm curious what this new project the city has for the fairgrounds is going to bring. It has all the makings of awesome or awful . Memphis FairgroundsThe new hotel going up in Overton Square is going to make for a nice place to stay close to the stadium.

Nothing like calling your conference mates ugly. 03-lmfao

Way to win friends and influence people.

Kinda like how your AD pissed off Virginia Tech...you know one of those ACC teams that visit occasionally and bring 10-15K fans

Liberty Bowl is on my bucket list. I was deployed flying combat missions the last time Cuse played in the Liberty Bowl and missed it. Memphis is a fun trip, had a nice time on Beale Street about 10 years ago when we played Memphis in Basketball.

To be fair, I can't vote because I haven't attended games in all AAC stadiums. I have been to the Liberty Bowl on several occasions back when it was a dump, so I am happy with the improvements made (thanks for posting the photos, UofMemphis). I think I will schedule a trip to Memphis to watch a game next year. I attended the Memphis/Navy game at the Naval Academy last year (in the rain) and like that stadium and the fans. Great atmosphere there.

Anyone who voted for USF is just being a spiteful ****.... $100 million upgrade in the past couple years. It may not be “ours” but it’s nicer than just about any college owned stadium out there.

My favorite part about USF's stadium is that when you go into the club level indoor area, it is all Buccaneers stuff.

I haven't actually walked around the stadium entirely, but does it have any open/patio areas (either covered or uncovered), in the way that Houston/Cincy have (if you or others have been there). I don't recall seeing them, and I think something like that (possibly at the top of the first level) would really enhance that stadium and experience. ECU in my opinion is easily in the Top 3 or 4 stadiums (non-NFL) in the conference.

It does not, which dates it a bit. I love the Fick, but would be interested to see some of the newer stadiums in the conference considering how impressed I was with ODU's tiny but brand friggin new stadium.

Hoping to make an excuse to take a work trip to Cindy for next year's game.

ODU was nice, but didn't even have bathrooms on the upstairs level.

We don't really have them on that level either unless you're in the club. Their upper deck is basically the same as the upper levels of our lower section....that sounded confusing.

Unlike ODU, we have a true upper deck with a landing area and all that. But ODU's top level is like being in row AAA in Dowdy (top of lower bowl). If you're sitting there, you're also walking all the way down to pee.

Really? I've sat in that upper deck for 20 years and the closeness and convenience of the restrooms and concessions are part of the reason aside from sitting on the first row. We have plenty of ******** on the upper deck and they're a hell of a lot easier to access than downstairs.

Yeah, and that makes sense in our stadium because we have 50k seats. With 22k, it doesn't make sense to build all that infrastructure upstairs at ODU.

I agree, you'd need to visit all to make an honest assessment. So far I've been to Memphis (2011 & 2019), Navy (2008 & 2019), UH (multiple) and USF (3X). Attended games at Tulane and Tulsa in the past, but that was before their current stadiums. While I hope to visit ECU and Temple in the 2020 season, UCF and UC are farther in the future.
