No GOR. I wouldn’t be surprised if BSU doesn’t sue the mwc over breach of the term sheet based on what Thompson is saying.

Boise State’s too much drama. Prima Donnas, Keep them away from AAC. Let them go into oblivion with FOX.

This. Boise State could have been here from the beginning. They chose to run for the money. Let them rot on the vine.

I was thinking why the ruckus now if they have 5 or 6 years before the you-know-what hits the fan. Lots can happen in five or six years - so I think that something else is going on.

What happens if they go to the Pac 12 or Big 12 and become just another member, no longer the best team of the conference? Those close wins over the MWC teams may turn into losses in any A5 conference, making BSU an also-ran. If they go to the AAC, they may find themselves with more losses their too.

There's a serious question as to whether the AAC members would prefer to add Boise, or Air Force or SDSU, given the fact that Boise might be inclined to view the AAC as a stepping stone to the P5 by 2026.

Yeah, but raise your hand if.....wait no....raise your hand if your team DOESN'T view the AAC as a stepping stone to the P5.

Good meme, good point. But you know what? If ESPN gave us all $15M and the bowl alliance (or whomever is in charge) gave us an auto-bid to the Peach or Cotton, I would advocate signing a GOR and staying put right here. I wouldn't mind being viewed as being in the 6th best conference, as long as we were above that arbitrary dividing line. Come on, ESPN, add Boise, Air Force, BYU, and let's get this thing done.

I’m skeptical of adding Boise because it’s going to create a murderer’s row in conference play. We’ll end up beating up on each other even more than we already do and watch App State make the NY6. If ESPN wants to make the P6 a real thing, then yeah, all about that. Otherwise, the ESPN narrative needs to be that a 2 loss AAC champ is better than an undefeated champ from the G4.

Sure, Boise may decide to go independent a la BYU.

For the outdoor enthusiast, Boise would be a great pickup. Mountain biking in September or snow boarding in November would be my forte.

It looks like Boise is setting up their justification for leaving the Mountain West. What they do afterwards is anyone's guess ... But I doubt they would do well as an independent. Unlike BYU they don't have the backing of a religion and a money rich Institution.

I can see them possibly wanting to bolt, but hopefully not get played so they can negotiate another special deal. I think with the AAC constantly getting in the NY6 and getting more tv coverage, it seems like getting a MWC team could be a possibility.

"Staying at 11" for how many years?

Until the two-year NCAA CCG waiver runs out in 2022?

Until 2023, when the first P5 conferences renegotiate their deals?

Until 2025, when the Big-12 renegotiates their deal?

Until the end of the AAC's 12-year broadcasting agreement in 2034?

Until a G5 or Independent FB or BB school meets all of the AAC's current criteria, as presented by Commissioner Aresco, and lobbies for membership?

Until the conference attains official P6/A6 status?

Until the number of AAC schools drops below the minimum number stipulated in the broadcasting agreement, thus voiding the contract?

Until the conference implodes, or merges with another conference?

In perpetuity, regardless of the circumstances?

Pretty sure you can travel to Boise without adding their football team.

I doubt they joined the AAC at least as is constituted now. Have you seen the average distance from Boise to AAC schools? It's like they're on Pluto. You would have to add two more teams in the West, in my opinion, to make it worth discussing.

It seems more like they are fine with the TV deal, but that they aren't happy with the idea of changing things in the next renegotiation. I think it will be a contentious business as usual as long as they still have their sweetheart deal (6 years?).

They have no other real option. Academics not good enough for p5, won't make the money as an Independent. Sure there is the AAC, but they are a geographic outlier. This is Boise posturing, putting MWC on notice that they will be doing the same type deal next time around.

Me too. If there is a 12th---it's more likely to be just for olympic sports rather than a football addition (say VCU). By the way, the next school added would actually be our #13--but who's counting?).

I didn’t hear it with my own ears, but it was reported on our message board that our radio guy on our pregame show today said Gonzaga might be included in the BYU-Boise deal.

If indeed the conference would add all 3, I don’t know how anyone could legitimately not consider the AAC a power conference in all sports. That’s a bold move by Aresco.
