At least we've got Men's Basketball to look forward to after that tough loss by our gridiron Dukes.

Can't even beat a mid-tier team at home...71-78 loss. We'll be lucky to get 4 wins in the conference...

I had the displeasure of watching the game in a Frisco bar after the football Dukes got controlled by the Bison.
I was kidding earlier in the season, but not as much now. Are the Dukes point shaving? A 1-5 start to the conference season including 0-4 at home.
This is a slow motion train wreck that has lasted 4 years

Shame you didn't run into JB or CK in Frisco and tell them that.....

Barring something unforeseen this is over- I didn't watch the game but I can tell by the box score and result that it was much of the same. The only chance this JMU team had was by playing a different style. Playing the normal style too much has to go right for this team to win. Parker, Lewis, Wilson, Banks, and others all have to play well, shoot well and execute well at once to mask the offensive inefficiencies, defensive break downs, and turnovers as a team when playing a game in the 70s.
Just a lot to ask of this team and staff and they have proven over and over that they aren't capable of winning this way.
Getting tired of the "we need to be more consistent, we need to play with more energy, we need to execute" post game comments. I'm sure it's even more frustrating for them and after a while what are you going to say but it has worn thin. We are at the point where we are what we are and a change needs to be made this year or next. I've been as supportive and patient with the team and staff as anyone but I just don't see the path now. Something drastic needs to change to try to get different results.

Same. End of game errors were embarrassing. Passing the ball to press row on a fast break???

Pinkard getting 20 minutes of playing time is ridiculous. The guy has zero upside. He scored 1 point. Your telling me Dobbs or Harvey aren't better than that? Fire Rowe now for God's sake.

I don’t know if you’re serious or not, but I agree. It’s not going to happen, but it would let everyone know a new day is coming. Maybe inject some temporary excitement into the program and help it build going forward- generate some new $$$ too.

It could. I honestly think THAT would be the only way we lose some top performers to transfer. They’re already getting a month of spring semester after the season ends to explore other offers. If it was 3 months instead, we probably lose more to transfer. I suspect some might say “Who cares? They’re not winning anyways.”

What are their options? I’m not sure of their credit hours toward graduating this Summer but the Juniors for example who haven’t used their red shirts-Do they even have viable options better than JMU? Not much market for a sit one play one player. I think they would have to transfer to a low major at this point and would be better off staying at JMU and seeing who the new coach is.
Maybe the freshmen or Sophomores would explore options but don’t underestimate that some may like JMU and be connected to our school more than just for a head coach. There is no perfect time with something like this.

President Carrier fired John Thurston midway through his third season with a record of 31-44.
Carrier was a president who embraced the benefits of a winning hoops program

Don’t get me wrong guys, I’m pretty apathetic on this. I just see that as possible with a mid-season firing. Whatever JMU MBB does...cool. I’ll probably randomly watch some 4th quarters. I am NATF of that program.

I think a coaching change this week to one of the assistants is best and may give what I feel is a talented team a needed boost and some sort of push into the last 2 months of the season, and maybe some confidence going into next season and the new coach. It can’t get much worse than the current setup.
Our only CAA win is by 4 over the worst UNCW team in 40 years per their fans.
Shaver has been at a couple of our games (not sure why), but I know some wanted him coming into this season.

Oppenheimer is probably the most likely candidate- only been with Rowe for a short time, has the best resume, daughter goes to JMU so probably could be convinced to stay around. I know Coach Rowe is a fighter and he loves his players but maybe if we lose a couple of more something can be worked out where he steps down.

I was thinking the same thing this morning. He certainly has the resume...I would love to hear his unedited thoughts (will never happen).

Then I started to wonder if he were the head coach, how many games do you think the Dukes would have won by now? Hard to tell.
Another note: Coppin State is 4-14 now and dead last in the MEAC.
