It's too bad half of TV viewers don't know what FS1 is or where to find it.

I thought it was more of a soccer channel

Now, just to be fun.... we should take Air Force and watch it BURN!
This is one of the funniest posts I have seen on the internet today. Taking Air Force causing the MWC to end? Thats some funny stuff. The MWC will likely not last to 2030, but losing AF will not be the cause of it's downfall.
If you want a football team that is kinda good once every 5 years and a terrible basketball program then have at it. Have fun playing at 7200 ft.

Loss of AF would cause the value of the contract to go down and prove to everyone that MWC is the AACs biatch.... but ya, enjoy that whopping $3.5 mill.

And btw.... don’t be jealous they have a chance and you were only BSU side cart biatch.

Lol. The contract only guarantees that nobody from the MWC is coming East. So guessing they aren't your female dog...

Good to have a MWC fan visiting - - especially an SDSU fan.

There is a fair amount of hubris or presumptuousness among some posters here. The thought that "we" (the conference) can just "take" Air Force or any other school is absurd. A MWC or any other school has to want to join the AAC.

Now, with their new broadcasting deal, some schools may find the difference in $$ too insignificant to merit a switch. Still, there are other benefits to joining the AAC. One of the main benefits is that so many more AAC games will be broadcast, and on the most widely viewed network, at that.

Commissioner Aresco made it very clear that a California school with a good FB program, such as SDSU (and perhaps SDSU, in particular) would certainly be considered for an AAC membership.

Don't know if there's any interest at SDSU in a FB membership in the AAC, but if there is, SDSU would probably be - - in my view - - just as strong a candidate as AFA would be, if not stronger.

Any thoughts about whether SDSU would seek to become an all-sports member? It would certainly strain travel budgets, but the AAC could really use another top 25 caliber MBB program. More seriously, though, SDSU basketball would perhaps be in a better conference by switching to the WAC, to play against teams like Gonzaga and St. Mary's.

SDSU has been to 10 bowl games in a row during the past decade. No other non-P5 program can match that record, and most P5 programs can't.

Hope you'll visit the board from time to time.

You know what's weird?

A UAB fan starts a thread on the mwc deal on the AAC board and then makes further pot-stirring posts.

It's like trolling, but it's such a low-grade, weak, G4 version that I don't know how to react...

I don’t understand why or how Boise still gets a special deal. What leverage do they have? It’s not like the Pac 12 or Big 12 will take them. The American won’t take them after they burned the bridge.

If you're talking about me (and honestly, not a lot of Navy fans around these boards), in my last 100 posts, FOUR have been on the CUSA board. One was on a bumped thread about the first CFP rankings, and a factual observation not pot-stirring.

The other three were in the thread CUSA fans created about their betters "Power 6" and none were pot-stirring:
- response to two posts about Navy's Bowl game (win over fellow P6 team)
- one factual update to bowl records
- one factual update to bowl ratings/viewership.

Dont let facts get in the way of your inferiority complex though, lil dragon

RE: MWC Finalizes $270M Media Rights Deal With CBS Sports, Fox!
Couple things.

People always just include the ESPN contract total as if that is all of it. We need to add in the Navy tier which is probably another 5m and what will likely be 2-3m a year from the CBS package, which as Pesik pointed out hasn't been finalized yet. So the media pay out per team is 7.5 and may increase depending on our contract talks with ESPN about UConn's former share.

MWC didn't "retain" their third tier rights, no one wants them. It is unlikely that any of the handful of valuable football programs will have any available. SDSU and Boise will have all but their FCS games picked up, Hawaii is tied to their ppv deal. UNLV is horrible and I don't see a high demand for their football though they might get some return for basketball. What other basketball program or football program would hold value? Many are located in small population areas that would carry the state viewership. The others like SJSU don't have much of a foothold in their market. Fresno and CSU might make something, AFA could possibly. For the rest their just isn't the viewership to get much.

For speculation I expect we will get an announcement for the CBS deal will also include a handful of cbssports games from the ESPN+ stock. I would think something like 12 total between the CBS and CBSsport. Just a few to sprinkle in to fill up the schedule.

It's a good deal for the MWC and a little more than I thought (3m) the gamble is if the FS1 viewership is going to increase, although to be honest a million plus viewers isn't a normal thing for them, besides Boise. The fox games are a bonus that will see some top viewership numbers better than what they have had on those late night espn. The fact is they also take a lot of body bag games, most of those will be on ESPN/ABC family so early in the season they will get good exposure, will be interesting to see how the mouse handles those, announcing beat downs, with snide little comments seems like a strong possibility.

No chance for any MWC team to go to the AAC. SDSU AD John David Wicker was one of the biggest mouth pieces against a long term contract. And with SDCC going to the Big West and San Diego in the WCC there is no where to put their other sports anyway.
Hawaii will get their deal renewed in July. There is a good chance they make more money which gives the other MWC teams more money. Plus we still have a ton of inventory left that can go to market. NFL Network has shown interest and ESPN+ and Stadium is there. Not to mention local networks. Every team in the conference will be easily over $4 million once all of the inventory is sold off. SDSU and Hawaii are getting new stadiums. SJSU is upgrading their stadium and is showing signs of life in both sports. Boise State just announced a big stadium renovation. The MWC is stable and everyone is happy where they are at.
Air Force would be the AAC's only shot but they would not wanna lose the front range rivalries and Navy would probably block the move anyway.
I know the thing to do here is crap all over the MWC's contract even though it's technically just as good as the AAC contract. But a team isn't gonna leave a six year deal for a 12 year deal. By the time the new AAC deal comes up the MWC second media deal will be ending.
As for exposure or lack thereof please. I live in a town with less than 2,000 people in the mountains. We are snowed in three months out of the year. My TV package has FS1 and FS2. CBS Sports takes about five seconds to find. Fubo, Hulu, YouTube TV, and it could very well end up on Sling TV. And the thing is the networks understand our TV viewers will be lower in numbers because of our location and kickoff times. Seeing MWC commercials and ads during NFL games will help get is some attention. Something ESPN didn't care to do
Bottom line is the AAC and MWC has seperated themselves from everyone else. The MWC is stable and will be making more cash soon and in six years will go to market. Once the UConn fallout and your 12 football team is added, the AAC will make the most money for a minimum of six years. We are both in good shape considering the gap with the P5.
Ride the next two seasons and then call GA State or UAB. They have all the pieces on place.
I look forward to the trolls coming back to the MWC board and continue their schtick.
