Watching on TV it looks like there's a decent crowd in the Pavillion

Obviously a big, big hit last evening, Busy all night, jammed before game and at halftime. Prices high, but that didn't stop anybody.
Great new facility...amazed they got it done this year!

This is absolutely a move that will get locals in, grad students in, alums in. Very important step forward to building a following. I would advertise it heavily.

In the second half, President Rowe was front and center in the Pavilion wearing a Tribe #28 jersey. Definitely a different vibe than previous presidents, in a good way.

Looks good and an easy/cheap way to test what should be a clear part of the renovation. If they close the bowl, even if partially, with removable "drawbridge" kind of thing, but have this up on the mezzanine, I dont think Id leave the place the entire game.

Great move by the AD Huge and the Athletics Department. Great use of that open space that has plagued the aesthetics of Kaplan for decades. Can't wait to have a beer there.

I had shared BillyMac's safety concern based on the original drawing, but the "real thing" has plenty of run-out room with the rope at the back of the grey area instead of at the back of the yellow area as in the drawing.

The location of the towel boy chairs may be another matter ...

This pic reminds me of the setup they had in Baltimore at the CAA tournament. Great idea. Wish we had an area to do this at Trask. Anytime an arena can make it fun to attend a game whether a team is good or bad, you're moving in the right direction. They may have to find a way for expansion in the coming years. The biggest deficit basketball has compared to football is the social aspect of the games. This solves that problem. My bet is they really improve the overall asthetics of the area in the future to make it really top level.

This is super good.

Hope in the final version after the renovation maybe they have more tiers with the bar at the top.

Something like https://www.flickr.com/photos/parklifedc/25547185664 maybe

I hung out there the entire game. What a great addition this pavilion is to the experience, and a nice way to address that open end that was previously a vacuum on the atmosphere.

Great new facility...amazed they got it done this year!

“Prices high”? I was pleasantly surprised to find their price to be virtually the same as at their Beer Hall in Merchants Square. The price ($7/beer) is also in line with every craft brewery I’ve ever visited anywhere. The entire experience is much better than I expected. Kudos for getting it done.

$7 a beer in an arena is not high, even for a bud light. Craft beer at that price is a steal. I paid $12 for one last night at a comedy show.

The Precarious Pavilion
So how does it work? Are there tickets to get in? 1st come 1st served? Does it get to capacity and they turn people away? Seems like it would be nice to pony up at one of those tables or couches, sip good beer, and watch the whole game.

Seems like the Pavilion would get crowded, particularly at halftime. I wonder if W&M would consider setting up a satellite beer sales area in the concourse, just during halftime. That's what SJU did for our game.
