Our only CAA win is by 4 over the worst UNCW team in 40 years per their fans.

Shaver has been at a couple of our games (not sure why), but I know some wanted him coming into this season.

He was at home games? I would imagine he's looking for a gig and sees the potential in JMU. Rowe is having the kind of start at JMU that Shaver had at W&M but Shaver had like 15 years of head coaching experience before his D1 job compared to Rowe's big fat 0 years.

based on performance a new coach coming in could care less if these players stayed or not. As for pinkard, if hes getting 20 minutes what does that tell you about guys behind him not playing. either not working hard in practice or not that good. I give pinkard lots of credit for working hard and earning those minutes.

if a coach is on hot seat as rowe is, hes only going to play guys he believes gives him chance to win.

I have 0 issue with Pinkard- Even though at times rosters can be young in college hoops I don't view it as a pro team rebuilding where you play your young guys over your veterans who are free agents after the year is done. It's different than that. First of all JMU isn't young- that excuse no longer applies - and you play a rotation of guys who can compete the best and give you the best chance to win. I think it's good that Pinkard has continued to work as part of the program and earned minutes (albeit on a bad team). He has looked pretty good and brought something on both sides of the ball as a Senior. That's good to see and an example for guys at the bottom of the roster.

Not every college player is going to get minutes their first 2 seasons- some guys are going to be practice guys and help the team that way only to keep working and earn some minutes as part of the rotation when they are Juniors or Seniors. Lukic was kind of like this- he was behind a lot of guys and then Senior season he worked, practiced, and he played reasonably well for JMU (albeit on another bad team).

Hire Shaver now as an assistant to help us get it together!

On Massey, we've moved down to #258 in D1 (#276 overall). We somehow have managed to have a losing record against the #255 SoS in the country. We're projected to win only two more games all season...Elon and UNCW at home. We're not even projected to win AT #325 Elon. We have about a 0.5% chance to get 8 more wins to break even in the CAA. There's a 2% chance that we end with a winning record - though let's be honest, it's far less than that.

I feel as good about these teams as I did about the Keener teams when I was a student...

How do tiebreakers work for the CAA tourney? If both us and Elon only have 3 CAA wins (assuming we both win at home against each other and win both vs. UNCW), is there a chance we're the #9 seed and wouldn't make it out of the Keener round?
