Just wow....Take the jerseys off and you'd be hard pressed not to believe these two are playing for a KY or Duke, but they're our guys and it's some kind of special. Kaplan deserves to be packed and loud on Saturday. Go Tribe!

RE: CAA Game 4 - vs UNCW
Great crowd last night...over 3300 with no students other than our cheerleaders. This team is catching on and Saturday should be packed (as will the Precarious Pavilion,
an instant hit at Kaplan!!)

You know something good with Tribe basketball is going on when folks in our section are saying we didn't play very well and we win by 16 points.

Barnes had a terrific game...all over the floor, best speed of the season, and his hands deflecting opposition passes all night.

Nathan Knight and Andy VanVliet are almost beyond description. Their rebounding was out of sight. And Nate had five assists last night, at least two of the
sensational level.

RE: CAA Game 4 - vs UNCW
By the metrics, it’s the worst we’ve played since Elon (which was the end of our 3 game bad streak). Nice to do that and win rather easily (I know, I know, UNCW is rough this year, but still).

RE: CAA Game 4 - vs UNCW
UNCW's defense impressed despite their obvious lack of talent on offense. A big part of our offensive struggles was their ability to disrupt our offensive flow. What was available was not our preferred choice for most of the night. We did a pretty good job of breaking the press, but it still meant we did not have a normal shot clock to run through our offense. Wouldn't be surprised to see them win a game or two with 20-30 points off turnovers.

RE: CAA Game 4 - vs UNCW
The team with the better talent won last night as UNCW is struggling and truly lack 5 starting CAA level players with the defection of Toews. Kind of reminds me of our game against ODU earlier this year.

Let us Pack the Kap for CoC at 2pm Saturday as we compete for 1st in the CAA!

TITB, I think that you are spot on. Give UNCW a lot of credit. I do not believe that the purpose of their press was ever to turn us over but was to make us take 7-8 seconds to cross half court and limit the amount of time that they had to play half court defense. If they had used more of a trapping defense in the back court we could have used Barnes' speed to break the press and have a bunch of transition opportunities. Unlike most teams that press in the back court to speed up the game, it seemed to me that the UNCW press was meant to slow up the game and give us less time to efficiently run our half court offense. And then they would trap our bigs on the wings and sort of clog up the middle, making it even more difficult for us to run our offense in the time that remained. We seemed to figure things out in the second half and play with more freedom.

I think you are quite right that the press was meant to slow us down and disrupt our flow, which it did. They had a good game plan.

Dane and our team adjusted well and played thru the game plan that they had for us. Congratulations and GO TRIBE!

If you're a less talented team, no offense to UNCW, pressing to slow down a game makes sense. Fewer possessions tend to make upsets more likely.

None taken. We suck.

Also agree with this, exactly how I felt as well.

UNCW also showed more intensity in the game at times, particularly in the 1H. Likely from frustration on our part, their game plan was working for them up until halftime. They actually had a chance to take their only lead of the game with about 30 seconds left.

Has there ever been a better ambassador for Tribe basketball than Nathan? Surely hope that we do not have to wait as long to see his jersey retired as we have had to see Marcus' jersey retired.

Appreciate this quote. Correct mentality.

“The last thing I said to the guys before we started the second half was that Wilmington came in with nothing to lose, and they’re playing like that. I said, ‘Guys, we don’t have anything to lose, either. This is January.” https://t.co/4cqSfY4QKN

Pretty clear that Dane’s coaching style has resonated with this group, and the apparent seamless integration of returnees, recruits, and transfers is just remarkable.

Last year, I thought the 2019-20 team was the program’s best chance to make the Dance.

Despite a complete makeover in staff and roster, hard not to be as optimistic at this time.

Last year, the main reason most of us were so hopeful about this year was Nathan Knight. Audige and Pierce were also noteworthy cogs and Van Vliet was a hopeful unknown - but the main reason was Knight.

This year, the main reason most of us are so hopeful about this year is Nathan Knight. Van Vliet has turned out to be even better than expected and numerous others have also contributed -- but the main reason is Knight.

So even though the staff and much of the team has been made over, the absolute key ingredient has remained the same. Before the season even started I wrote that Nathan Knight was the reason we should do well and that preseason prognosticators who wrote us off were way off base.

Sure, we are doing much better than I and most expected -- but I was always counting on this being a big year from Nate. So it is not a complete shocker -- only a validation of what a special player he is. Add in Van Vliet and let's go places!

Lots of people get credit for how well we’re doing this year - Shaver’s staff for bringing in many of the key pieces; Dane’s staff for bringing in many other key pieces; Dane’s staff for figuring out how to get the most out of this team; and most importantly, each and every player who wears that uniform and reps our school so well. Season is still young. Let’s stay focused and keep rolling.

Wow. They were playing like doo doo, but the mid season firing due to poor play is a rarity in the CAA.

According to their board, they've done that twice and as recently as 5 years ago.

OK, but what do they know? They are UNCW fans after all.
