Good for exciting conference games among those who follow Sun Belt basketball.

Decidedly awful for creating post-season opportunities for the league as far as bids and seeding goes, aside from CBI/CIT I guess.

South beats LR

Most teams aren't good enough to overcome the loss of their point guard, certainly if he is also their leading scorer. We clearly aren't.

Not sure if the unfavorable scheduling to this point had anything to do with it, or if these teams just aren't near as good as expected. Probably both.

Anyway, 1-4 starts and last place for teams picked 2nd and 4th in the preseason.

yes uta is certainly stinking up the place. they have been unpredictable. other than playing gonzaga down to the wire and beating a pretty good tulsa team, they have not been able to get it done. last night couldnt make shots on their own home court. the mavs have already lost a season worth of games and even if things turned around, they would get one of the worst seeds in the tourney. since we dont have football, some of us really look forward to basketball season but the air has gone out of that balloon in short order. oh well, baseball not to far off. the mavs signed a small army of pitchers in the off season and have their usual list of good teams coming in to play.

Soooo you're a Mav Fan, having to live through a lousy Basketball season . . . could be worse .. .

. . you could be living through a lousy basketball season on the heels of a lousy Football season. . . perhaps NOT having a football program is a blessing, perhaps not.

Agree that "baseball is not far off," and may prove to be the sport of redemption (gotta hang my hat on something). 04-cheers

I kinda want to smack you. I'd take a losing football season over what we have now...

I've been pleasantly surprised this season. After losing 3 seniors, having 5 players transfer, and then Cross bring in a bunch of freshman and JUCO guys that have never played together, no one expected us to win many games at all.

Troy is 6-10 right now, but if it weren't for unfortunate mental breaks in the last 2-3 minutes against Texas A&M, Chattanooga, UAB, and App State, we're 11-5.

Watch out next season. We only lose 1 player, and he's not even a starter.

I did.

yes, now the mavs are not even one of the best teams in one of the weakest basketball conferences. it's fitting that our last game this season is against Troy.

I can count about 17 conferences worse than the Sun Belt. I hate when people say "one of the weakest basketball conferences".

Unless you forgot you left the Southland or WAC that statement just isn't true.

true..just going by ncaa standings. most of our teams are in the lower half and sun belt still a 1 bid conference..not trying to hurt anyone's feelings. I certainly wish our schools were knocking off "name" teams left and right and getting more respect, just bumbed out by the dismal season the mavs are having. actually a few southland teams are polling pretty high.

Well just so you don't get too mis-informed and go pining for the good ol days in the Southland.

Sun Belt sitting around the 15-17 range depending on where you look and Southland in the 30-31 range. You could definitely win more games back over there though, so there's that...
