And of those, only two are below #265. (division 1 bottom quartile)

You sticking to your Thursday prediction that Rice also falls to the bottom quartile? Or are you willing to give us a chance now that we again showed a bit of a pulse (matching WKU on the road in FG and 3PT shooting?)

Up 7 places since the Egg we laid at Marshall.

First of all, I made an egregious error by using the term "quartile" when there are just 14 schools. The latter part of the season, the conference will be broken into 3 groups, two with 5 schools (1-5, 6-10) and one of 4 schools (11-14). I believe that Rice will fall into the 11-14 group.

But, I'm not totally counting out moving to the next (6-10) group, whose members are bunched from #164 to #177 in Pomeroy. Rice is #200 right now.

Ok that makes more sense in that context!
Lots of folks call them ‘pods’ but I think ‘group play’ as you call it here is the official term.

Let’s just hopefully stay out of the “bottom heptile” of the conference (bottom 1/7th, which does not get an invite to Frisco). I think that’s a safe assumption but we can’t take anything for granted at this stage.
