He has some impressive lines on his resume but this feels weird. He went from Nebraska to Ohio State to Texas to NC State?? I love my team but that seems like a huge step backwards.

He had some 9-10 win seasons at Nebraska but averaged 5 conference wins. I can see the move to OSU (15-2 in 2 seasons). I can see the move to UT with then new coach Tom Herman. I think he was fired/demoted from OC at Texas.

I'm sure he can improve the nearly non-existent offense. If he makes any kind of splash, I see him leaving at the end of the season.

Tom Herman is the brains on offense for Texas, so maybe he wanted to run his own offense some place else? You are probably right that he is hoping to make a splash and then get a HC offer.

Actually his daughter is at Coastal Caroline so this allows him to be closer to her.
