I'm still pissed at how we let Eastern nickel-and-dime us to death with the seven-yard out routes.

And with a backup at QB...

We gave everyone zone with 7-10 yard cushion. Every team with a decent QB killed us. WKU with their WR size was running over defenders. Coach E must not have had faith in our pass coverage. Need two lockdown CB's.

It wasn’t always pretty, but it mostly worked. We were a top scoring defense in the conference and had a lot of takeaways. They kept us in games when the offense sputtered. They did it missing three starters for most of the season in Eskridge, Moment and French. I think they deserve much more praise than criticism, and they should be even better next season if we can get a second safety to step up.

Football presser, sounds like Eskridge is going back on offense this year

Ahhh dang, I liked him a lot at defense. But, we really did lack a true go-to receiver last year, even though we're very stacked at WR talent-wise. Plus, you always are a little worried about breaking in a new QB, even if Eleby has already proven his talent a bit. I'm hoping this also means they're happy with Lovely and the rest of the CB depth and young guys.

Who gets the other CB start? Lovely? Coleman? Crawford looks good for being unheralded.

Eskridge is not a "go-to receiver". He is a speedy guy who can get open deep. That is a valuable asset to have, but he isn't a possession type, always open early, incredible hands guy, who would be a "go-to receiver".

Its great having him back though.

Based on his limited usage last season, I would qualify him as a go-to receiver. Teams really feared him and backed off of him in the few offensive snaps he played, which they consistently did not with any of our other receivers. When I say "go-to," I don't mean a big, possession-type receiver. Perhaps I should say "consistent threat," in terms of causing the other team to seriously affect their gameplan and leave an opening for other guys.

Glad Mr Eskridge is returning. Will miss him on defense but he has the speed to scare defenses. Should open up options for other receivers if he can stay healthy. I can see Skyy Moore having a big year with Dee in the lineup.
