For retired numbers, I think I heard that Drexel's criteria is that you have to go pro. I could be wrong. Rose, Anderson, and Marginean all played in the NBA/WNBA. Anderson and Marginean's NBA/WNBA careers were short, but they still got drafted and made it. Gabby was also the all time leading scorer in Philadelphia WBB history.

The Barbara Yost retired number is very questionable, and I'm not sure why they did it. No disrespect to Barbara and her accomplishments though as she was the best player in Drexel WBB of her era and she did lead the Dragons to a ECC Championship. But the ECC did not have an automatic NCAA bid that year. Her jersey retirement ceremony took place about 13 years after leaving Drexel at a banquet that I was at around 2001 or so. I think it was at Bruiser's introduction banquet.

Damion Lee scored 478 points for UL in his graduate year to finish at 2,016. Had he stayed at Drexel, he likely would have scored another 100 points or so, because that season would have revolved around showcasing Lee in front of NBA scouts. So that would have put him 2nd in Drexel history in scoring. Combine that with a most likely NBA career, and Lee clearly would have had his number retire at Drexel, and would have deserved it.

If you do that for John's number, how do you then not also recognize Bob "Sweeper" Stephens? I'd prefer the "honoring the player number" vs. retiring the number in these cases.

I didn't realize how much he's scoring in the NBA. He's averaging 12.3, which is more than J.J. Barea (formerly Jose Juan Barea) and Gary Neal ever did. Barea was a senior in Northeastern's first season in the CAA in 2005-2006 and won POY. Neal spent one and a half seasons at Towson. As a senior in 2006-2007, he became the second player in CAA history to score 800 in a season after David Robinson, and Wright-Foreman broke Robinson's record with 948 last season. Neal has the CAA career record of 25.6 points per game, although arguably they shouldn't include him with that few games in the CAA.

He put on a show on Christmas. I hope they’re able to make room for him to stick around, instead of needing to go back to the G League.
