Positive take aways entering into a new year
The FSU defense looks like they could do very well. They are going to be very experienced along the line and it’s time for those young DB and LB recruits Willie recruited to step up and #Dosomething.

FSU has 2 very good freshmen QBs coming in and I think one of them will win the starting job. My gut feeling is that James Blackman is going to transfer, but I hope he sticks around to compete.

FSU will be loaded at WR. We will miss Cam Akers, but I’m thinking that the transfer from aTm will end up being pretty good.

If the transfer portal yields some solid guys along the OL FSU has a chance to exceed expectations. We are hoping for a miracle turnaround similar to UL this season. Perhaps these guys just need a dose of good coaching.

Any chance FSU goes after Jamie Newman in the transfer portal? He's very good (although Sage Surratt can make any QB look good)

In a rebuilding year on defense we are still playing for the national title. Our “weak” spot on defense this year was the DL and we have the best DL class in the country coming in.

On offense Trevor, Ross, Dixon and Rodgers return for sure while Higgins and Etienne have yet to decide. We will also have Braden Galloway for a full season at TE.

There will be competition at PK as well.

I’ll support whatever Mike Norvell does. If Blackman transfers I bet Coach goes after a free agent QB.

Rumor is he is all Oregon.

FSU needs help BADLY at QB, RB, OT, and speed rusher. FSU has been unable to recruit at an elite level the last few years, so even though the need is there, we don't know if FSU can compete to land the few that are available right now. Will be interesting to see

For the first time since the 90's GT has an AD and a President that fit and understand GT and they have united the fan base. Pastner is the last major coaching hire left to complete an overhaul of all of sports at the GTAA that matters.

The programs that have already been cleaned up and are on a clear upward trajectory at a high level: baseball, volleyball, football, women's basketball, and softball.

Some evidence of the new President making positive moves: https://news.gatech.edu/2019/11/04/athle...ts-cabinet

I think SU will be much better in 2020. They started the season worse than anyone thought. After averaging 5 sacks a game during the first nine games, they got it together only allowing a total of five sacks in the final three games against Louisville, Wake and Duke. After being an INT machine the first 6 games, Tommy DeVito threw zero int's the last six games. This was after getting a new DC and some Oline folks healing enough to play. Im thinking the ACC will be much better in 2020 but I think SU can squeak out at least 8 wins in.

FWIW, I agree with you - I think SU will be better. As for 8 wins, to get there it will be absolutely CRITICAL for the Orange to sweep their non-conference games:

09/12 - at Rutgers
09/19 - Colgate
09/26 - at Western Michigan
10/17 - Liberty

I don't see any automatic losses, although Rutgers could be much-improved under Schiano.

Rutgers will definitely improve under Schiano. However, not that early on. They don’t have any talent whatsoever.

To help get over this bowl season, I have something special for those whose teams laid an egg (like VT)...

Specially constructed to give FSU, Miami, VT and WFU fans just what we need (I could add UVA if there's enough demand for it).
