This team seem to have the toughness of our 2008-2009 NIT Team!

Great to see a 1-0 conference start and a road win to boot. I agree this is a team we probably blow out at Kaplan, but they played well tonight. Moved the ball really quickly on offense, and played tough D most of the night. Exposed our weaknesses.

Let’s see what Loewe, Scott, and Barnes look like together on offense now that they can play together more. It takes time to find your team rhythm.

Everyone outside our Towers still seems to be looking for his role. Or at least they aren’t delivering consistently in those roles night in and night out.

Let’s go Tribe!!

Knight was not going to let us lose tonight. Made the free throws we had to have at the end. Five road wins before 2020...didn’t see that coming.

Most studly of Van Vliet to make those two free throws at the end, to allow us to survive that final trey. I agree with the many who are worried that we played the worst team in the league so closely -- road or no road. Nate scored 13 straight at one point. I would love to see that "pound it inside" play all season ...who cares if it is boring or if nobody scores any points but Nate and Andy. Just win baby!

Knight/VV - 8/9 on Free Throws

Our guards - 5/8

Just something that caught my eye in the box score, obviously it's a small sample size.

Not to be a negative nancy, but that Elon team was nowhere near as bad as this year's Elon team. They also beat Northeastern that year who won the CAA tourney. This year's Elon team will be lucky to win 4 games in conference.

A road win is a road win, but we did not play very well. The team looked terrible in the 1st half and I was so furious at the fact that we didn't feed Nate or VV in the paint every play when Elon has no size. We don't need to run pick and roll or have Nate stand at the 3 point line... Just let them post up, feed them the ball, and let them shoot before they get doubled...

RE: Game 14: @ Elon
Always good to win a road game, especially a conference road victory. Elon may be near or at the bottom of the CAA, but we played well enough to win at their place: decent shooting and play setup most of the evening and wasn't Nathan overwhelming in the second half.

Scott's return was brief but very effective. Once he gets his legs back and plays most of the minutes our entire team character should change for the better.

Two CAA toughies on the road the next two games with lots of travel time involved. This schedule is the pits...five road wins is remarkable.

RE: Game 14: @ Elon
I have now attended two Tribe Hoops games this season, @ High Point & @ Elon.

I was pleasantly surprised after watching the game @ High Point that this season didn't look like it would be a complete dumpster fire.

After the Elon game, still no worries about a dumpster fire, but I do think this squad's ceiling is to possibly avoid the Dean Keener Invitational round of the CAA tourney.

In short, the Tribe has two all conference big men worth building a team around and a back court with too many players from the recycle bin, or do they call that the "transfer portal" now.

It is New Year's Eve, my resolution for 2020 is to cease viewing everything from the perspective of what might have been.....

I hope my assessments are really incorrect and the rest of the season is a joy for all Tribe fans. Happy New Year.

RE: Game 14: @ Elon
We are going to be challenged by teams that are guard heavy and who can pressure our perimeter game. Yesterday is a good example of what we will look like on offense the rest of the way. Scott will eventually return to the starting lineup, I suppose. That will be a boost to the offense and a little downgrade on defense. We need the offense more. After 14 games, it doesn't appear that Ayesa or Hermanovskis are going to add a lot on offense. I still don't understand why Harvey isn't getting at least a few minutes a night. I guess Fischer has more faith in Blair.

This was either going to be a win or a disappointing loss. We got the win.

Credit to the prep and scrappiness of Elon, they didn't make it easy. They will get a few conference wins there, glad we aren't one of them.

RE: Game 14: @ Elon
I appreciated Dane's comments about Jonathan Holmes. Very classy, also a subtle way of reminding us that Elon may well be the team best prepared to face us the rest of the way from a coaching perspective. I only wish we had faced them at the end of the first conference rotation, rather than at the beginning.

Our guys generally appeared to be less quick than the Elon players last night. I'm hoping that the brutal road schedule they played has led to a certain level of fatigue that has contributed to that, and that it will correct to a certain amount as the schedule reverts to the mean.

I appreciated Nate going to the low post and taking over the game. Andy, with his outside shooting, passing and ability to play both inside and out is the perfect complement to him in a high low game, with either in or out.

GO TRIBE!

Yes, I don't get this either. When Harvey does play he always seems to get rebounds and blocks .....things that are always needed and good. Meanwhile, and maybe I'm the only one who feels this way, but I still don't see what Coach sees in Blair. To me, his role would be equivalent to an "enforcer" in hockey. I wouldn't have him out there for his offense, nor for his defense. He wouldn't get as many rebounds or blocks as Harvey would if they played for the same number of minutes. Obviously I'll take and be happy with any positive stats that Blair can provide but, to me, he would not be my first option off the bench.

Three straight road games to start CAA is brutal. This trip will show the toughness of this team.
