Their image attracts the selfish, showy players (Tate Martell) and it continues to be perpetuated by the turnover chain and their seeming revival of the 80s and 90s bad boy Canes. They still get the Jimmy’s and Joe’s, but that alone does not cut it any more. I think the culture of Dade and Broward county can also be blamed where the Canes get most of their talent. I think FSU is at their best when they take just a few from this area with everyone else coming else where.

I think they'll be all right.

They just suffered from the "Louisville Effect" ... they gave everything they had to win that game, and had nothing left for Florida International, Duke, or Louisiana Tech.

The Canes have never taken more players from elsewhere as opposed to the local talent. They always cherry picked the nation while locking down South Florida, i.e. Dade and Broward counties. The "muck" has always been their treasure trove. Unfortunately, they haven't locked down south Florida and other programs have come in and cherry picked players who obviously would have stayed if the Canes had the right coach. Amare Cooper, Devin Cook are just a couple who got away. Manny isn't the answer. Surprised they didn't go get Butch.

They still get top 20 classes, talent alone should get them top 20 results.

Anywhere else, I would tend to agree. But you can't teach speed and south FL has plenty of it. It's the coaches.

I wonder if the South Florida kids are coachable?

Well, good sir. According to the wiki gods, the Orange Bowl stadium provided quite the home field advantage due to its metal bleachers contributing to the loudness factor. Fans went ape**** at the old Orange Bowl and the seating was close to the field. Plus, it was closer to campus.

Miami needs to quit trying to be "The U" and just be what they are.

They try to act like the bunch of bada$$es that they had back in the 80's, but they intimidate NOBODY. Truth is they're just like everyone else trying to survive here in Alabama/Clemson world.

So instead of just accepting who they are, they continue to act like they're all Melvin Bratton but end up looking like Betty White while they're getting shut out by La. Tech.
