Looks like the only people who should be concerned flying are those landing after 5:00 pm Friday. The next concern is the field conditions during the game. It's gonna get soaked Friday night.

Great. Not only am I stressing my connection, I now have to worry about whether I’ll be able to land.

Due to get in around 10PM. Is this thing scheduled to be out of the area by then or is that when it’s scheduled to be heating up?

Based on a very quick look at the NOAA outlook earlier, I believe the worst of it will have moved to the East by then. This was based on daily outlooks though, and not sure if they’ve posted any more detailed projections. Normally those come out closer to 24-48 hours ahead. It’s also possible this thing won’t turn super nasty, and could be more dispersed thunderstorms instead. NOAA prediction for Dallas is 15% chance of it being severe there. Some areas northeast have a higher probability.

My flight also arrives around 10pm. Keeping an eyeball on it, but not changing my plans yet. Probably an equal or greater risk that the airlines will delay or cancel flights than the conditions will not permit landing.

I'm assuming the field will be covered with a tarp during the bad weather. Looks like today they should be finished painting the field and getting it ready. Assuming they tarp the field, it should be perfect on Saturday.

Direct flight out of Richmond gets in at 5:30pm local. Going to be a ton of purple on that flight. Storms are def. showing up more on guidance today.

Southwest 1725 BWI to MCI and 1564 MCI to DAL. Departing 11 AM and arriving 3:45.

Looks like weather.com has a high and low of 45/29 on Saturday. Sounds cold enough to me for bundling up and sneaking in a ton of streamers 04-rock

Would hope they are smart enough to do this, if not it could be a mud bowl with 1-2 inches or so of rain dropping the night before.

Tarp goes on the field tomorrow. The stadium posted that they mowed the grass earlier than usual so that field prep can occur before the tarp is put down.

Def a little nervous about delays on Friday. Much of the South and Ohio Valley are expecting bad weather, so that no doubt will impact all routes even if it is nice and sunny at your departure/arrival city.

I was not nervous about it until people bought it up. Getting in at 5:00 PM on Friday.

They do 2 or 3 per day direct to DFW, I'm on the 7AM Friday. I'm a little less worried than I was 24 hours ago, but still considering eating some money and moving to a Thursday evening flight.

NOAA stating the storm will be along and to the east of I35.
It looks like the worst of it will be east of DFW.

Keep the updates coming. Flying in from the west coast, that map is a bit more encouraging for us (not so much for you east coast kats). We've already prepared the 'rip cord' option if flight is cancelled/delayed. I'm more concerned about the ripple effect on flights that is almost inevitably going to happen. My flight out of Seattle has been cancelled/delayed more than once due to weather in the midwest.

Dallas weather sucks.

RE: Jan 11 2020 Frisco Weather Thread
Not sure there will be any ripple effect flight delays for us on this one. The storm originates in Texas where the two front collide, and it starts on Friday when most flights will already be on the way.

If DFW backs up, probably it just means some planes go in a holding pattern for a while and arrive late on Friday. The bigger risk is flight delays or cancellations due to the airlines/pilots feeling squirmish about the weather forecast that day for DFW, or a backup at DFW itself from planes waiting to land.

At the moment not thinking it will be a problem ... but I’ve been to New York before and had both JFK and LGA shut down on us to a high wind storm, had to take Amtrak home.

Haven’t looked at what else is happening around the country. A storm at a hub like Atlanta could cause some delays/ripples. I’m direct IAD -> DFW

Well the weather has improved for saturday, cloudy and sunny, high of 45. Better than the freezing temperatures in January 2017. It snowed a little bit the day before even.

Now Friday this week, that looks nasty. Strong Thunderstorms. Lets hope it's just rain and thunder.
