Niiiiiiice. That's more like it. Thanks Purple!

The other 2 hours before kick-off is still in a different part of the website, but I don't see it being an issue as we know the Bison will be there early.

I’m sure they will be in line at 5am, and wouldn’t be shocked if they open the gates a bit earlier than 6. Believe in practice it’s always been open before the “official” time.

Interesting that they bumped lot opening to 6. Wonder if that shift happened last year or if this is the first time for 6am. And yes, at 5am there will be swarms of NDSU fans lined up.

Usually you say the players on the field determine who wins the game. I think with a three year break and two new Head Coaches at the FCS NC coaching may be the difference maker.

For the majority of this season I would agree with that. However, our secondary has been really good lately. They had some really great plays breaking up the pass.

I agree that coaching may be the difference maker in this one. I'm not sold on Entz for them. I think the talent of his team has overshadowed his coaching. I think we match up with them when it comes to talent. I have a lot of confidence in Cignetti and this staff.
I expect to hear NDSU fans saying the same thing we said about the Elon game "We got out-coached."

We've not played a good QB lately. Even as a freshman, Trey Lance could be the best QB we have faced this year. He's run for over 1,000 yards, and has not thrown an interception all year. That is fricken amazing.........

ndsu hasn't even played a QB in 3 games. the last few weeks they played RB's playing QB basically. Neither ISU's nor MSU's could barely complete a pass.

when they faced a passing team like UC Davis earlier in the year, they were hit with 312 yards through the air.

they've given up 177 ypg on the ground in the last 8 games. that's a pretty decent sample size. If they can't stop the run, Ben will torch them. He'll be the best passing QB they've faced since UC Davis probably

RE: National Championship JMU Versus NDSU January 11, 2020
Going into the NC game, the 2017 team had two fairly consistent weaknesses from my vantage point. First, the OL had been decimated by injuries and we struggled to both run and pass protect (against better defenses, at least). There were at least two 3rd stringers starting and almost everyone other than Mac Patrick was playing out of position. Second was WR drops. Between Alls and Stapleton, there nearly always seemed to be a couple of balls that hit the ground that shouldn't have. Both of these weaknesses had a hand in the loss.

I don't see either of those being issues this year. The OL has generally played well, and I can't even think of a really bad dropped ball off the top of my head.

The fairly consistent weaknesses I see this year are KO coverage and in the secondary matching up man-to-man. Another concerns that has seemed to manifest itself recently are a rash of PF penalties. Need to clean this stuff up or at least minimize the damage.

Biggest drop of the game was Marcus Marshall on the swing route. He had an easy TD if he catches that ball.

Alls was even worse I think, he'd already turned his head to run for the TD. But yes, those were brutal. Per Doox's point about kick coverage, there was some really good stuff from Mateo Jackson and MJ Hampton on coverage this past week and hopefully that's a sign that unit is getting things worked out. I know I've been beating this drum for a while, but the Kidd injury had really messed them up as he'd been MVP for Specials through the first half of the season.

Lance appears to have a lot more athleticism than Stick and a better arm, don't watch enough of their games, but his stat line is very impressive. Seems like if we can slow him down, we'll be in pretty good shape, but no doubt have a hands full. The game management by NDSU is what makes them so good (along with good players). I am stunned by Lane's ridic TD/Int ratio and the fact the Bison have only 6 To's the entire season.

I think the game will be won or lost in the turnover battle. JMU's one weakness is fumbling the football. If they can hang onto the ball, they'll have a good chance in this game. This is going to be a close game. I can't see it being a blowout one way or the other.

I agree turnovers will decide the game, but I'd say there's a few other things I would call weaknesses over our fumbling. We have 737 attempts and 10 fumbles. That's still 10 more fumbles than I'm sure Cignetti wants, but I wouldn't call it a big weakness to our team.
If anything I would say our special teams specifically our return coverage has been suspect at times. I would also say our secondary has been more of a weakness. However, the last few games our secondary has played much better.

Amos has had few opportunities with any kind of blocking forming up in front of him. He's usually dead man walking. When he has enough time to make the first mam miss, he can still be the old Amos.

It was encouraging to see the good kickoff returns last week.

Edit- I now realize you meant our coverage on returns.- and I agree.

if we don't turn it over more than once, this game should not be close.
MSU defense was slower than slow -just terrible to be honest. Glad they had that as their last game in the semis to overinflate their confidence. Bison have not seen anything close to the speed we are going to bring on D, and quite honestly they don't have enough speed on their D edges to even begin to address all the pass options we have. IF we control the offensive line of scrimmage, this could be 2-3 TD spread, or more. Dukes roll in this one.

RE: National Championship JMU Versus NDSU January 11, 2020
NDSU has never lost a championship game. The only time in the last 8 years they didn’t win the championship they lost to us in the semis. To them Frisco is a home game.

Personally I think NDSU has been two different teams this year, depending on the game. JMU needs to prepare for the dominating version. I know JMU can win but I hate to see the cherry picking of their off games (which they still won), and implying that they can’t beat us because these opponents weren’t all that good anyway. This is going to be a tough game that will take our team playing at a high level in all aspects to win.

JMU is going to need to do better in covering the passing game, limiting penalties, creating turnovers and finishing drives with scores than it has the last two games. I’m a bit worried at the comments I saw on other boards during our last game about how many holds our OL was getting away with. If it’s true, our fortune can depend entirely on how strict an officiating crew is, similar to when we lived on the edge with being extremely physical on pass defense to the point of arriving just slightly early every time. If you catch a crew that calls the penalties it can throw you off your game.

Saw the complaining I think the AGS swamp. Some were claiming our corners were "holding" Most of it looked like great coverage. Regardless, The last two playoff games the Bison played, they were holding a lot, at tackle as well. Linemen WILL "hold" if they aren't getting called for it. Both the Dukes and the Bison will be (and should be) testing those waters.

Refs swallowed their whistles as much as they could. Holding is one of those things that happens on every single play in football. I refuse to believe Daka and Carter got contained as well as they did without a plethora of holds. I’m ok with them letting the guys play. Limit the whistles to egregious things.
