Has picture of 1983 Iowa coaching staff under Fry. Includes Bill Snyder, Kirk Ferentz, Barry Alvarez, Dan McCarney and Bob Stoops.

Someone says they are the winningest coaches at each of their schools-KSU, Iowa, Wisconsin, Iowa St. and Oklahoma.

RE: Hayden Fry passes away at 90
I used to listen to the replays and the coaches shows on WHO Des Moines.

Hayden Fry won at a place that hadn't won in a long time. He took Iowa to the Rose Bowl in an era when Michigan and Ohio State had a lockdown on it. And, yes, he did recruit the first black player in the Southwest Conference.

Also, a Hollywood producer named a TV football coach after him.

RIP.

Larger than life figure with a cult following.

Our company’s secretary served coffee to Hayden Fry when he visited her home to recruit her brother. Her brother died in a car accident on I-80 the summer he was supposed to become a Hawkeye.

Even though he hasn't been in 20 years, I still think he's Iowa's coach.
