RE: MAC Net Rankings
I'm not surprised to see Akron & Kent in the top 2 spots. I'm surprised to see they're 40-50 spots higher than the next ranked MAC team.

I figured Toledo would drop...
The Rockets did not look good in recent wins over Oakland and UD Mercy...

Computers don't care how a team "looks."

Oakland played good perimeter D. Defended BG quite nicely too. The horizon league isn't super far beneath us. The UD game was a tale of two teams who shot high percentage from deep. We finished em off strong. Nothing to be mad about as a Toledo fan besides the Notre Dame and Valpo games.

RE: MAC Net Rankings
The NET rankings still seem to be extremely sensitive at this stage in the season. Kent lost last night to #116 UC Irvine and it caused them to fall 32 spots.

RE: MAC Net Rankings
A bunch of publications do top 25 midmajor polls.
Toledo, BG, Kent, UB and Akron are represented in some, not others.

The Horizon has fallen off the table this year, normally the MAC is 12 to 16, and the Horizon is probably right around there or maybe a notch lower like 13 to 17, most ranking systems have the Horizon in the low to mid 20s rankings right now.

Wright State can still beat any MAC team on any given night. Oakland just lost by 4 combined points to the MAC top dogs. Valpo leaving hurt their league as a whole. NKU was a nice addition. The main difference is comparing our 7th best team to theirs, and our last place team to theirs, but overall I think the leagues are comparable. Comparable arenas. Comparable relative success.

RE: MAC Net Rankings
Top to bottom the Horizon is much worse than the MAC. The average MAC Kenpom rating is 151.3. The average Horizon team comes in at 224.6. That's a 73.3 spot difference. Sure Wright State and Northern Kentucky could compete in the MAC. Those programs aren't the problem. The 7 programs who are currently 200+ (2 of which are 300+) in Kenpom rating is what drags down that entire conference. That's 70% of the conference. For comparison the MAC only has 2 teams with a Kenpom 200+ rating and we have 2 extra teams.

RE: MAC Net Rankings
Well this might help Ball State's NET ranking, 27 point lead with a few mins left vs Georgia Tech. Good luck predicting Ball State games this year, yikes!

The Horizon is 100% finished.

20 years ago, they got 3 bids.
15 years ago, UWM went to the Sweet 16 and was hosting CCG sellouts of 10k+.
10 years ago, Butler was going to back-to-back National Title games.

They've fallen off a cliff. Haven't won an NCAA Tournament game since...Butler.

Overall these net rankings dont look bad to me I feel Bulls are a little undervalued and Akron overvalued. In Akrons case, just need more data against quality teams

I'm likely biased, but I feel Akron has thus far been the most consistent team. They have beaten the teams they're supposed to beat by large margins and they have been competitive with the 2 tourney caliber teams they faced. This weekend they should be playing 2 decent opponents. If they beat Tulane and Liberty (and that's a big IF on Liberty) I feel they're deserving of being labeled early season favorites. If not, I'd probably go with BGSU assuming Turner returns healthy soon.
