WR decommits from UCF, supposedly he was processed to free up room.

One thing I never understood about this strategy. Why not go after the creme of the crop and move down from there as they tell you whether they are interested. Seems cheap to offer someone a scholarship and tell them how happy you are they committed, and then tell them two weeks later we don’t want you here

Because if you wait too long, you'll get squeezed. Temple blew this in basketball putting all of our eggs in one basket with Jalen Brunson, and let Justin Robinson go to VT when he wanted to go to Temple. You have to be honest about who is a legit target for you. We offer 4* and a 5* in football every now and then, but we don't spend much time because it's unrealistic.

I never said 5*, just our top targets who have shown interest at the position. Hopefully we get a good recruit for it

I'm sure you are, you just probably took Franks' commitment too early.

Got a commitment from Mathew D. Alexander. A lot of P5 offers along with Harvard/Princeton. Seems like a smart young player with a lot of potential

We also just got a 400-600k donation too about an hour ago. This has improved my mood quite a bit

I get the impression neither he nor the other kid who is transferring were expected to start. That said, I'm genuinely curious to see if this is reflected in the Underdog Dynasty position rankings. If they don't mention this or take this into consideration I have a lesser opinion of them.

Most of the conference is recruiting really well. Kinda surprised UH has started slow though.

New Crystal Ball pick for SMU:

https://247sports.com/Player/Stone-Eby-46083358/

3* DL who has offers from Ga Tech, Baylor, Iowa State, Purdue and a couple of others. Solid pickup on the DL.

UC - 8
SMU - 7
MEM - 6
UCF - 2
USF - 2
All the rest have 1 or none at this point. What these ratings mean, except for bragging rights, is a mystery to me. I tend to trust the Coaches to take the best ones they think fit needs, culture, academics, etc. AAC out recruiting all G4 conferences in a big way, FWIW.

ECU only has 4 total recruits for the 2021 cycle so far with an avg recruit ranking of 84.57 (5th best in the AAC at the moment). Due to having such a small senior class ECU likely won't exceed 15 total recruits. Hopefully, the focus is quality over quantity this year.

ECU gets their 5th recruit of 2021 in Athlete Jacob Coleman. He has a composite ranking of .8577 which increases ECU's overall per recruit avg to .8487. He chose ECU over offers from Boston College, Rutgers, Temple, etc.

Perry lost his starting early last season & he appeared to be further down the chart going into this season. Don't think Hurst had played much at all.

It is a good sign, but do not set off the fireworks yet. There is a long way to go.

Speaking of fireworks, happy to see SMU add DL Stone Eby over Baylor, GaTech, Duke, et. al. to its commitment list.
From 247: "Stone Eby is a potentially position- and scheme-versatile defensive lineman whose most natural fit may be a strong-side end in a four-man front. In the 6-foot-4, 240-pound range, Eby is a big, burly defensive lineman who wears his mass well, but will still be able to add some bulk in college."
