If the rumors of CSU showing interest are true, that could be a quick addition that has a lot of potential, with great facilities, a brand new stadium, new market to replace UCONN, and solid fan support. Not to mention they have a built in rivalry with Colorado that could boost our ratings if both teams are good. This addition would also open the door for future expansion with BYU, Boise State, or SDSU, since they would want a western wing to join the AAC.

AAC BB fans, of course, disagree about "the rest."

Have there been continuing rumors about CSU being interested? There were some mentions of this possibility a few months ago, but...?

It is interesting that nothing has been heard from AF.

Yeah a little while ago ago few people who are apparently connected with college athletics said a few MWC schools reached out, including CSU and i think UNM. CSU is one good AD hire away from being a big time program imo, all the pieces are in place for them except good coaching.

Need to turn the 12 member addition into a bachelor type show. Which AD will get the final AAC rose?

Colorado has dropped Colorado State off its football schedule. I think they play one or two more games and then that is the end of it.

In a related note, Chris Gardner tweeted the following regarding ESPN+ production costs from the ECU AD.

'East Carolina athletics director Jon Gilbert said each broadcast will cost the athletic department around $6,500-$7,500 to hire announcers and a production crew. Multiplied by 45, that’s more than $300,000 annually spent on broadcasting games...'

Stephen Igoe from Hoist the Colours discussed this 12/10 with Gilbert on the radio.

Article: New AAC TV deal provides more money to ECU, but also challenges

So we're basically shelling out $300k but getting a $5 million bump every year. Also about a $1 million one time cost to upgrade the broadcast booth. I'll take it.

MWC Commissioner was quoted in the Colorado Springs Gazette that the upcoming MWC TV contract would have no streaming. I am guessing (and it is a guess!) that the monies are so low in the upcoming MWC TV contract that the conference cannot meet production costs.

For AAC, it is as the B12 touts ESPN+ as a strong and broad Conference TV Network whereas the B12 did not previously have a Conference TV network. The ESPN+ portion of the AAC TV contract will provide strong exposure and hopefully strengthen recruiting. SEC, ACC, and B12 cannot use lack of exposure to recruit against AAC. What ever the production costs are for each AAC school, it is well worth the money.

The ESPN+ telecasts in the AAC contract should be attractive to a potential invitee from MWC which is complaining that the late night starts mandated by ESPN are killing attendance.

Probably the same old story. CU doesn't want CSU to be perceived as an equal, thereby boosting CSU for recruiting within the state and public attention. Regardless, I think CSU would make a great addition as a full sports member of AAC. The population of Colorado is 6 million.

And they're gonna come over here. We should at least provide a kids' table for them and keep them there so we can have grownup conversations at the P6 table.

They are. With CSU new stadium, they are going to play at each other’s stadium instead of a neutral site.

That's great news. Certainly good for CSU. Evidently, there has been a change from what I previously understood.

I did check football schedules and this is what I found:

2020: CU @CSU
2021: No game scheduled.
2022: No game scheduled.
2023: CSU @CU
2024: CU @CSU
2025: No game scheduled.
2026: No game scheduled.
2027: No game scheduled.
2028: No game scheduled.

I'm sure this is related to keeping the deal whole.

Boise State's continuing to miss the NY6 bowl and playing in the weaker conference than the AAC might persuade them. I'm sure their championship game against Hawaii compared to our Championship with two ranked teams might have them thinking along those lines.

If BYU is serious about joining and wants a western wing,

BYU
SDSU
Boise
CSU

Army - Football only
VCU - Olympic

Has to be worth more than $7 million per, right?
