I am seeing this more and more on social media, and it's getting really frustrating

We are not the Crimson Tide. Where did this horrendous saying come from?

Any ideas on how to kill this saying once and for all? It's getting out of hand

There is no need to invent something to replace it. It’s always been “Go Dukes!” Or “Duuuukes!”. Roll Dukes is stupid and should be dropped. It is ridiculous.

It's the young folks spearheading it and it drives me insane! They aren't old enough to be in sports bars and have to deal with Alabama fans, most of whom can't spell Alabama or locate it on a map. What's wrong with "Go Dukes"? Some kid said "Roll Dukes" to me in Wegman's not too long ago (wearing my JMU hat) and I just looked at him with what I imagine was a giant scowl (my normal face) and just walked away.

Sadly, we have a subset of our fanbase that says a dumb thing. It doesn't make me less angry when I see or hear it, but at least they're rootin'.

Yeah bugs the hell out of me. Of course there are plenty of generic and universal things, but when a cheer/saying/whatever is pretty specific to one team I hate when others steal it.

On twitter I often respond with "We're not doing Roll Dukes anymore. We're not Alabama". It usually ends the discussion.

You can't force a tradition. "Roll Dukes" will end just like the "We are... MADISON" that JMU tried at games for a while.
Good traditions like streamers stick and we have a damn good one with the streamers. Did anyone see Monmouth steal it Saturday? Was pretty sad actually. They couldn't even throw them properly. They were waving them around instead.
The best way to end the "Roll Dukes" is to not do it. For others that do it, you could just tell them what I do "We aren't Alabama. Stop it." And if they want to continue looking like a dufus, so be it. I've done my part.

Just an observation so don't hate....it's seems like the streamer thing has declined some over the past few years. Maybe that will be a matter of time as well.

I haven't made the trip for a home game in a few years, but I've watched them all and still keep in touch with many JMU folks.

I've never seen or heard "Roll Dukes," and I refuse to believe it's a thing. Why in the world? Ugh.

I also always hated those shirts that said JMU "The real university of Virginia" or whatever they said with like orange lines fashioned to mimic UVA. Screw that; their name is literally those words. We're awesome for being JMU, not for knockoffs of other people's phrases/whatever. (I think maybe those shirts died off, but Roll Dukes needs to die an even quicker death.)

Was just going to say, it kinda smells like that goofy, dopey, “embarrassed for you” MasonNation swoosh-like thing that GMCC had on their floor for a while. Was happy to see that didn’t reappear when they redid their floor whenever that was.
And the Monmouth or even worse tic fans with their pathetic streamer displays.
