RE: UAB vs Memphis - MBB 12/7/2019
Feel the same as I did before we played the 3 power teams, we need a change. I see some improvement but it's too little too late. The possible outcomes for this season shouldn't have changed:

NCAA
NIT
New coaching staff

In year 4 of ANY coaching era, that should be the bottom line at UAB basketball. No reason to dumb our standards down because a staff can't meet them.

There was absolutely ZERO adjustment from the coaching staff during the second half last night. It was pitiful. I agree: NCAA, NIT, or GTFO..

Most will disagree, but this team is better without Scootie Bryant. I don't know what the issues with him were, but I'm not sad to see him gone. However, I do agree that it is time to move on from Rob. It blows my mind how inept we are against backcourt press defense. We've got some pieces there to be successful.

I don’t disagree either. The coaching and adjustments in game still suck though. We know how to play hard on defense, slow the game to a snails pace, ugly the game up, and end up with close final scores and “moral victories.” The coaching last night was simply awful.

Your team almost lost to Ehsan, I would not be that excited. Looks like a first round exit this year for penny

Memphis is missing two starters right now in Wiseman/Quinones. We'll get both of them back in early January and then it's 'game on'

I hope to see the Memphis v UAB hoops series continue. UAB needs to dump their coach and hire Andy Kennedy STAT.

Does Andy Kennedy have magic fairy dust that we don't know about?

If so, why didn't he use it at Ole Miss?

& why isn't some other school snatching up this great coach?

I'm sure he could also put on his resume that he forced Coach Gene Bartow into retirement.

Speaking of Kennedy and Bartow, heres an link to an article from the 1989 Richmond NIT game. Look at the players mentioned. Kennedy, Reggie Turner, Barry Bearden, Alan Ogg, Dylan Howard. Makes me nostalgic.

I don't particularly want Kennedy either. I also dont want another 3rd staff assistant or graduate assistant type.
I also dont know where the money will come from to get a quality coach. What i do know is this program is as dead as coach Bartow. We dont exactly have a Dr Hill and his vision at UAB.

You don't have an environment to get any coach better than Haase or Ehsan right now.

Attendance sure isn't going to make prospects flock to UAB and when you have to win the conference tournament to get into the NCAA tournament (as was the case for Haase & is the case for Ehsan) it doesn't make you overly attractive.

There is an assistant coach out there who is eager and capable of getting UAB back on track and it wouldn't take a lot of money to do so. We just gotta find that right person.

We can certainly do better than Ehsan. And it’s certainly possible for us to get an at large bid

Let's recall the season under Haase after Lee, Cokley, & Norton's freshman season ....

Won the regular season conference championship lost the conference tournament, went to the NIT & got taken out in the first round.

If you believe we can do better than Ehsan then you must mean we can also do better than Haase.

Not understanding your negativity towards the program. We absolutely can do better than our current dweeb loser coach and hire an assistant looking to make a name much like the Haase get, or a known commodity. Bucky McMillan would be a great choice imo, but doubt he wants to leave his current set up. Andy Kennedy would do well. I don’t have too much faith in Mark Ingram, but a 4 piece nugget order off the value meal at Wendy’s can coach circles around Ehsan

Basically anyone, ANYONE, (anyone) would be in the same predicament as Ehsan and Haase.

Win the conference tournament or stay home.
(that means win the conference tournament or stay home)

(that means Andy Kennedy would have to win the conference tournament or stay home)
(that means Mike Anderson would have to win the conference tournament or stay home)
(that means (insert name here) would have to win the conference tournament or stay home)

Haase did not do much better than Ehsan. Had Robert Brown not shown up he would have done worse than Ehsan.

Penny yelled "Trap" the whole game when we in-bounded the ball and the bench never coached the players how to adapt and attack the rim and we got spanked yet again. I could hear Penny from the cheap seats and our bench DEFINITELY heard and saw it yet nothing was changed. Just having Nicholson dribble it to half court was not the answer. Once that ball crossed the line they doubled any and everybody with the ball and we just keep passing side to side except for a dunk or two by Lovin attacking the rim.

Last prolific win 3/19/2015

We should dump Ehsan at end of the season unless we win CUSA tournament or get NIT invite.

I'd rather gamble on hiring a high school coach and give him a try than keep watching this insanity.

its embarrassing.

Just saw Jahien Spencer in the commons with UAB basketball gear on, so I'm assuming that he's still on the team

We've done better than Haase or Ehsan in the past and we will again.

The landscape of college basketball had changed but what's required for the Birmingham area to come out for UAB basketball has not: beat nationally relevant teams, get in the NCAA tournament, win games there.

Nothing else will work, no substitutions accepted. So we have to get someone in that can move our program towards those goals. Ehsan has had time and he still has most of a season left.

No NIT or NCAA, adios.

Add to it that games like yesterday at home are few & far between.

Not going to get a top ranked team to come to town that often.

Makes the strength of schedule even weaker thereby making the at large bid impossible.

(see even MTSU from a few years back)
