More importantly would he be referred to as "the new ball coach", "the next ball coach" or "the young ball coach"

RE: USF Coach - Spurrier Jr?
Running The Bulls has been providing a lot of behind the paywall information, a lot of which has been quite fascinating.
The big issues USF is facing:
Because of how slow the IPF fundraising has been, a lot of coaches need to see action on the IPF (like shovels in the ground) before they commit.
Most of the Taggart chatter is being pushed by his agent, while he reached out to USF no one in a key decision making role is listening to him.
Leavitt has made his pitch, it's a matter of whether USF wants him or not. Michael Kelly has a very good relationship with Leavitt. It would be a huge shot in the arm to the fan base if he came back, at least until they realized how much work needs to be done to fix USF's on the field issues. It would at least give us a year or two of boosted revenue. he will need quality assistants around him as his salary pool was a serious issue back in his first run as head coach.

As far as the Spurrier talk goes, the actual thought process is that Spurrier Sr. would come in for a few years as he still is legitimately interested in coaching (and based on how he coached the Apollos, I'd say he's far from done), then he would hand it off to his son. I'd rather he work with Kerwin Bell to get the offense fixed first, and then eventually hire him on as head coach.

If there's any truth to that last paragraph, it would be ******* awesome to see Spurrier on the sidelines again. I'd fly in from Louisiana to Tampa to catch a War on I-4 game with Spurrier.

From what I have heard, there was interest expressed but that it isnt really being looked at as an option.
Leavitt has gained some steam and there are some influencial people who want it to happen, but I think there are equal number of influential people who dont.
I personally love the man and thought he got screwed but he made a mistake trying to squash the investigation and it cost him. If he had just admitted he smacked a kid to wake him up, and took his lumps, he wouldnt have been fired..... and teddy bridgewater would have come to USF... and our history would have been WAY different.

Everything I am hearing, there are several names in play and a few havent even been mentioned. Kelly is keeping this REALLY close to the chest but I have a lot of faith in him. Outside of Leroy Selmon, I think hes the best AD we have ever had and in time, may surpass Selmon himself.

Amazing that you guys want Leavitt. You have a chance to build something new and more exciting and yet you want to go back to the past. Controversy aside, he’s not a great coach. He won some big name opponents but never won anything of note.

We have to do what's best for the program. Don't disagree that the hot coordinator or upcoming G4 coach is the right choice but if they've said no, then you go for biggest impact possible and that's bringing back the Godfather of USF football.

He took us from a trailer and an empty field to being nationally ranked faster than any coach in history.

If he hadn’t been dismissed, Teddy Bridgewater would have signed with USF. I tend to believe our trajectory would have been WAY different.

His early success and clear plan was a contributing factor in getting us into the Big East.

He was beating the big boys with 2 and 3 star recruits.... every school he has been to since has improved. No coach has accomplished so much with a startup program.

The man can coach, and he would actually be loyal.

Off field non coaching position for a few months. Oregon and Colorado most recently as a coach.

From a rival standpoint, Leavitt was good at stirring up UCF fans. I think the guy is legit crazy, but give him credit for his coaching.

That would be a good choice. I definitely think it is in your best interests to go with someone new from outside the program.

As a Clemson fan I'll hate it, but Jeff Scott will be a good one. He's one hell of a recruiter and has the coaching pedigree. His dad was OC at FSU until he made the mistake of taking the South Carolina coaching job. Was a long time assistant coach (OL and OC for a time) here at Clemson until he moved into the AD side. Jeff was the first head coach at Blythewood HS in Columbia and won a state title before moving back to the coaching ranks. He was Dabo's first coaching hire when Swinney was named interim.
