Yes, though the HeroSports top front page article written by Andrew Doughty that fed the twitter speculation rubs me the wrong way.

1) the article suggested that no current FBS coach would consider that job, yet lowly JMU’s coach was the prime “obvious” coach to go there. That’s rubbish.

2) after Cignetti directly shot it down, they still haven’t issued a correction to the article this morning. The author is well aware of Cigs reply. To me, that’s knowingly spreading false info at this point.

I’ve donated to Hero Sports in the past, and rethinking that. I like BMac and other FCS writers there, but this was very unprofessional speculation imo.

The FCS part of Herosports is top notch. There isn't anything out there like it and they know their stuff. I don't feel the same about the FBS content. Totally uncool for a national website to spread unfounded info. And when a coach publicly shoots it down, they at least need to revise it or post an update.
Would ESPN have done the same thing? I don't think so.

To me, the most impressive part of this was Cignetti's response. He was blunt about it which to me meant he was being real. If it was a "statement" then I might have been more concerned.
As I've said before, Cignetti has wanted this job for a while. And after all that time to leave not even a year later for a 1 win CUSA is absolutely idiotic. Cignetti is no idiot.
