You don't need to offer $1mil+ unless you want a coordinator at a major program.
Or if they want a guy that doesn't wear sunglasses inside at a press conference.

UTSA was paying $1.2 million and UNT is paying $1.3 million.

Meanwhile La.Tech is paying $700,000
Clark won't hit $1 million at UAB until the final year of his deal.

Not so much how much you spend but what you spend it on.

You have to assume schools are reaching out to Clark and he is turning them down. He would be a part of their "Due Diligence" because of his success since the UAB reboot.

Maybe he's happy there much like Larry Blakeney was at Troy?

Mike Leach has been extended by Washington State. Arkansas interviewed with Fuente yesterday and are still pushing hard for Kiffin however some news came out suggesting Kiffin was more interested in Ole Miss. If Arkansas strikes out on both Fuente and Kiffin, I'm not sure how much farther down the list Drink is. Furthermore, if Fuente leaves Virginia Tech, that leaves another local opening at an ACC program that would likely want to bring in another offensive minded coach. Things may be setting up for Drinkwitz here.

So of our 10 head coaches who is the most likely to get a better paying gig this silly season?

I'd rank them like this:
1. Napier
2. Anderson
3. Drinkwitz
4. Elliott
5. Lunsford
6. Chadwell
7. Lindsey
8. Spavital
9. Viator
10. Campbell

Wouldn't be surprised if any of the top 4 on my list get a better paying gig this year.

If Arkansas is smart they would go for Fritz. He had a major rebuild at Tulane and that's what Arkansas needs as well. Plus he has a knack of getting more from his talent then other coaches I've seen.

Fritz would be interesting. Not sure how his style would translate to the SEC West though. They could do something like UNC and simply hire the right person to get the train back on the tracks.

Personally i think there is just a little too much smoke coming from Arky for it to not be Kiffin.

So as of today the openings are:

Florida St
Ole Miss
Missouri
Arkansas
Boston College
S. Flordia
Colorado St
New Mexico
UNLV
UTSA
ODU

I'm not sure about UNLV, UTSA or ODU but any those other G5 programs can probably pay more than the top of the Sun Belt. We know the P5's can...

The question is if Kiffin is interested in Ole Miss. To me, after all the planes back and forth from Boca this week, there is a bidding war. Using Ole Miss interest is just an effort to show that Kiffin can choose to go to an SEC West rival and conceivably get whatever it is that he's asking for.

Not sure how Jerry Jones is tied to Arkansas but you have to assume he would stump for Kiffin.

Both Arkansas and Ole Miss are rebuilds. Kiffin would need to get real money to go there I would think because if he doesn't have them turned around quickly he's probably out.

I could see USF being interested in what's going on at Georgia State and Georgia Southern. Maybe not enough to hire away, but I could see them taking a look.

Their fan base would be suicidal

Speaking of overreacting fan bases... I was reminded today after about a 30 second browse of why I don't post on Yosef cabin. Good god.

What if Kiffin just wants a raise to wait for a non-dumpster fire job.

The next head coach at Arkansas will be there for three years, pull down $12-$15M, and be an OC or DC in 2023 somewhere else. Actually that isn't so bad.

GS could face 4 first year coaches next year since we have Ole Miss and FAU on our OOC. UL rotates off, but we still have stAte and App.

You don’t play AState next year. You play at UL

Ours is the best. Half our fan base is practically getting giddy over hiring Joe Brady who wouldn’t come here in a million years and we don’t even have an opening yet
