That said, most of you seem to be enthralled by Memphis State's ref aided game on Friday.

NOT ME.

I didn't even see the BLOCK IN THE BACK on the opening kickoff. Please go to our board to see the screen shot of it as the refs were apparently checking out the cheerleaders at that moment (because it happened right next to the ball carrier).

Then, in a three point game and right when we stop Elvis U on 3rd down to get the ball back to go down the field to win... that's right... PENALTY.

Now keep in mind this crap had been going on the entire game between BOTH sides, but that's the ONLY ONE they call. They made fun of Perry Young on Gameday yesterday for flopping after a Memphis thug whipped around and gave him a nice little roundhouse to the head. Now did THAT get called? NO. Same thing. They don't call it on them. They do call it on us... at the most pivotal point of the game, I might add. This gives the Tiggers more chances to get their last TD that they NEVER SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN.

So all I heard last week was how the mighty Memphisians were going to beat us by more than they could count on their fingers and toes. Didn't happen.

Rematches always favor the underdog. Watch Rocky II and see what happens. In the meantime, keep enjoying your wacky tobaccy and posting your rebel yells all week.

1. UC
2. Memphis State
3. WHO CARES...

Nice rant. +3

You know the refs will be on our side Saturday to ensure the conference gets the Cotton Bowl bid, right? History will repeat itself.

Most people were mistaken in the importance factor of Friday's game. Pure and simple the main reason was to determine which team the refs will favor in the championship game to determine who goes to the Cotton Bowl and the big payout for the conference.

RE: **Rank the AAC - week 14**
1. Memphis (11-1, 7-1) No Doubt
2. Cincinnati (10-2, 7-1) Second best and it was close
3. SMU (10-2, 6-2) Honestly, might have been the winner if one or two things went different

4. Navy (9-2, 7-1) Adjusted down 1 for easier schedule
5. UCF (9-3, 6-2) Under-performed

6. Temple (8-4, 5-3) Bipolar... great and horrible all in same season
7. Tulane (6-6, 3-5) Better than their record

8. USF (4-8, 2-6) Adjusted to top of the bad teams because we played AACs top 6 teams plus Wisconsin.
9. Houston (4-8, 2-6) Under-performed huge
10. Tulsa (4-8, 2-6) Better than their record
11. ECU (4-8, 1-7) Glimpses of good and then horrible

12. UConn (2-10, 0-8) um...not good. Not good at all.

Your 8-11 highlights a question of, what exactly is this list all about. It's very interesting. For instance, if the question is different from "what is the record", then you leave room for subjective opinions like mine, which is - Tulsa is the third or fourth best team in this league. Their record in no way reflects the level of ball they were playing this year.

On the same front, if you compare who they played, USF had one of the hardest schedules in the entire conference. We literally played the top 6 in this conference and then top 10 Wisconsin.
We lost 8 games and that is 7 of them. Its really hard to rank each team because honestly, I think USF was better than their record. With an easier schedule, we go bowling.... What if we had gotten Tulane and Houston instead of Navy and SMU? We were VERY close to taking Cinci and Temple, which I think kinda shows we could have beaten any team in this conference, when we played well.
Personally, I think USF is ranked #8 this year and tulsa 9.... but does it really matter? Both spots suck.

RE: **Rank the AAC - week 14**
Having witnessed both USF and Tulsa smash ECU at home by 25 I think they are very similar. Both have talent that is actually closer to the top teams than ECU (the talent gap was staggering) but are/were poorly coached at times and found ways to lose games. I lean Tulsa just because they beat UCF and with a kicker beat Memphis and SMU. Either way though the difference between those 2 and ECU is jarring right now as an ECU fan. I really like Mike Houston as a coach and wouldn't dare trade him for Montgomery or Strong, but ECU didn't belong on the same field with either and that's gonna take years to fix.

lol I like how you have SMU at 10-2 and say "might have been a winner if 1 or 2 things went differently" and then say "under performed" for 9-3 UCF when the exact same comment applies.

We lost 3 games on the road by a combined 7 points. Every loss was due to 1-2 plays late that didn't go out way. Tulsa hit their FG against UCF and missed their FG to beat SMU and Memphis. It is what it is.

If the coach would have put Uncle Rico in, they would have won state.

Tulsa was 2-5 when they played us and I said they were the best 2-5 team in the nation. There record is a real head scratcher. They're much better than 4-8.

Is it the coaching staff?

You should have taken it as a compliment... UCF was expected to win it all, so the bar was set higher. SMU wasn't expected to be at or near the top. I wasn't being snarky as much as giving an honest assessment and factored in pre-season expectations.

and last I checked 3 losses is indeed worse than 2, and yet I put a two loss team in the same category as UCF.

Not all things a USF fan says is a slight.

UC has an opportunity this weekend to decide who is #1 in the only way it counts; by hoisting the AAC Championship trophy and heading to the Cotton Bowl. Looking forward to a great game and a large TV audience. May the better team win.

This conference was very strong this year and will likely be as good or better next year, with big improvements expected from Houston and Tulsa and further improvements from ECU, SMU and Tulane. I expect Navy, UC, Memphis, UCF and Temple to remain formidable and at the top of their respective divisions. USF could be better or worse depending on their coaching hire and the school's commitment to winning, something which has been uncertain in recent years. Winning in this conference and particularly on the road will remain difficult.

Only problem with that is, I think they will send Boise St to the Access bowl if Cinci wins... I love the bearcats but I almost think its best for the AAC if Memphis wins out, otherwise we will let the MWC snag it from us.

It probably is best for the AAC for Memphis to win, which is why everyone but Cincinnati fans will be rooting for Memphis. And I totally understand that.
