Exclamation ****W1: Rice(0-0) @ Houston(0-0),Tbd, Tbd ****
Will D’Eriq King come back to UH for another year, or will he transfer?

Either way, Rice travels cross-town to kick off it’s 2020 season against Cougar High and hoping to take the first step toward its first bowl since 2015z

Very little chance King is in Houston next season. I expect major roster turnover for them.

I will gladly admit I’ve had this game on my radar for at least a year... but when I got the all-too-common-lately //double post// post, figured I’d repurpose one of them for the next game...
... especially with bowl season around the corner and everybody’s all excited about that but ... we’re not invited to all the holiday parties... which is ok... really

We do have other sports going on at Rice this fall/winter...
Volleyball is in the NCAA’s again.
WBB brings back the core from a nationally ranked Conference Championship team.
MBB is ranked in the top half of CUSA for the first time in 3 years
Nevertheless... it’s bowl season and we’re gonna keep this thread active at least as long as football is being played.

With the season over for both teams, UH will come in off of a 4-8 season, but losers of four of their last five.
Rice enters on a high, having won three in a row (3-9 on the year).

And... for your edification... a cross-post from “another” board...

The Touchdown! ECU Bayou Bucket Bowl is September 5.

(This bowl game is being played in September since the NCAA would not approve the bowl eligibility waivers.)

Speaking of waivers, this also gives UH a chance to reactivate D’Eriq King off of the redshirt-reserve list, assuming he clears, ahem, “waivers” (and/or the transfer portal).

Rice has never won at ECU (0-1 v Cougars and 0-2 v Pirates) so we’re looking forward to getting off the schneide. UH is going to run into a Rice Owls buzzsaw on a three game (& 10 month) winning streak.

Since this thread began, the NCAA announced self-imposed sanctions against UH. We are still waiting to see whether the list of games being forfeited include the last meeting between these two teams...

King finally entered the portal yesterday. He graduated in December so he’ll be a grad transfer eligible to play immediately.

Will be interesting to see what the other senior redshirts do.
