Should The Sun Belt Conference Consider To Add NC A&T?
Should Sun Belt Conference Add North Carolina A&T for all sports? They are one of the better HBCUs around that is not hurting, and could compete in football better. They said they would like to go FBS.

No, the only FCS school in their footprint who improves the conference is James Madison.

No. FBS football is saturated in NC with seven programs.

David, they way you structured the survey options you make it sound like if you don’t want NC A&T the only motivating factor for saying no is their HBCU status.

There are plenty of other reasons to say no. Revenue dilution, current stability, lack of history with member programs, etc.

The bottom line is that there’s no need to grow unless the new school is going to generate enough revenue to justify it.

RE: Should The Sun Belt Conference Consider To Add NC A&T?
Don't really see how they fit the Sun Belt. They'd have to quadruple their budget to be competitive, and they'd be competing with a lot of traffic in North Carolina. They have a better chance to dominate FCS competition in the state, since their biggest threats for recruits in-state are Elon, maybe Campbell, WCU and NCCU.

Now, if they wanted to go into the Big South and try to compete in the FCS playoffs? They could 100% do that without spending more money, but they'd also have to give up the Celebration Bowl access and get creative on other revenue sources. The ambition is there, but walking away from a big December payday like that is tough.

I'm a big fan of A&T. I think if they made the financial commitment then both the Sun Belt and the Aggies would benefit. However, NC doesn't need another FBS team. I would like to see them go Big South along with NCCU and join Hampton.

NCAT, High Point, Campbell, and NCCU would be a great 4 team circle of hate that are all within a 45 minute drive from one another

The poll is stupid. I don't have a problem with HBCUs in FBS, I just think there are too many FBS programs in North Carolina without A&T.

Yes the poll is stupid...
I voted no, wish it would have been worded differently, but that's the only no option.

And the reason is for selfish reasons. Nothing to do with HBCU schools.

Exactly. The OP is creating racial tension where none exists.

Absolutely not. Has nothing to do with them being an HBCU.

Basically, the only FCS members I'd be interested in are JMU and NDSU. The FCS is a complete wasteland outside those two programs.

SDSU, Montana, Eastern Washington, Mizz St and Delaware should be added to that list. Teams with strong fanbases and compete at the highest level of the FCS.

More likely to see UAlbany in the MAC than this.

Haha I must seem like a huge Blue Hen homer but UD would also be a nice addition to the MAC.

I'd love to see Delaware move to the FBS with JMU. They'd be great in a conference like either the MAC or the SBC. Or with UConn, UMass, Liberty & Army (throw in NMSU & BYU), you'd have a lot less trouble creating an indy schedule than previous independents have had.

JMU fan here. I can tell you that most JMU fans do NOT want to be in the MAC because of the weekday "MACtion". We value our gameday experience. Personally, I love the SBC as a stepping stone conference, but a lot of JMU fans will disagree with me on that. I am also for an INDY scheduling alliance, but JMU admin is not about that at this time. I hear JMU is waiting for the perfect opportunity, which will unfortunately never come.
