Virginia Pilot Sports
I called the director of the Virginia Pilot/Daily Press sports yesterday and left her a message that I could not believe that JMU won the CAA and is #2 in the Country and did not get a write up in the paper, especially since we have a large alumni group in the 757 area and a lot of players. I also said that we are one of the best football teams in the state and one of the best universities but we never get coverage. The 757 players deserve it. So this morning the Virginia Pilot has a picture and write up.
It's about time!

don't bother.

it's not article. Just a picture and 2 paragraph information story.

let me sum it up:

"JMU earns #2 seed in playoffs"

that's about it that i saw.

Nice job! Any coverage in the 757 is a plus, and helps keep the pipeline open. Look forward to see them writing even bigger articles when we advance in the playoffs.

Well the beat sports writer did go to ODU, so the fact that he can put together three sentences coherently is a surprise.

what makes me so mad is that David Teel is a graduate of JMU

Jami Frankenberry? Love his cereal, but his writing is as dry and tasteless as Cheerios.

Part of the problem is Jami is getting his Virginia market data from Vivid Seats, and I’d question how representative their data is. I’ve never used Vivid myself, would normally check stubhub if direct purchase is not an option. I’d bet this is how he decides what teams to cover:

Is it a coincidence that the head sports writer and author of that piece is an ODU grad? That might explain the limited JMU coverage.

This one is a gem. Dukeman would be shorting his circuits about this one:

Thanks, saving this. I'll post it anytime Dukeman posts.

Maybe the Pilot should just buy the articles Wayne Epps is putting out for the Richmond Times Dispatch. Two years ago JMU received very little coverage. Now that Wayne is on board, we're getting a decent amount of solid coverage. Hampton is a recruiting hotbed in a lot of sports, JMU marketing needs to hound the Pilot for coverage.

That's pathetic on the part of the pilot. Probably another one of those news print outlets going the way of the dodo bird.

Has anyone heard from Dukeman2? I worried about his robot circuitry after the recent article released by the Pilot about the decline of ODU football.
