I like how the OSU coach said he "was upset with some of the officiating calls".

hahahaha Typical comment from an OSU coach. The refs handed him the game for the most part. 03-hissyfit

Probably was good as gone before last night but having that productive of a game vs OSU is the final nail in the coffin. I'd be stunned if Pippen isn't a grad transfer this offseason. Even more of a reason to get Bainbridge and Bennett some minutes here and there.

Who is Alonzo Gaffney?

4 star freshmen recruit out of Cleveland. 6'8 but rail thin. Was in the ESPN top 100 recruits in class of 2019. Played 2 years at VASJ (and won state championship I believe), played one year at Garfield Heights and Sr year at one of those hoop academies. Was listed on some NBA draft lists.

Hasn't played much at all. not sure if hurt, in coach doghouse or just despite all the accolades not good enough to see the court. While whinny last night I've always thought OSU Holtmann was very good.

I guess I don't understand why all the concern about DP's plans for next year. Let's enjoy this year. Who knows what's going to happen? If you are a KSU & MAC fan, you accept this as the way it is. Actually, the way the rosters are assembled is kind of intriguing. Nowadays, the KSU roster assembled during the off season is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.

BTW .. as good/great as Pippen has been, he has to get to the line much more often. And no offensive rebs bears watching, too.

If he's fallen in love with the 3-point range, he isn't going to be in position for many offensive rebounds

I'd call this a little bit of a knee jerk reaction to last night. He came in tied for the team lead in offensive rebonds and is now 1 back of Whittington. It's true he'll get less being outside more, but he's still getting them.

I agree Pippen is likely gone. I thought the OSU coach talking to him for a while in the handshake line was interesting. Verbal offer? Lol.

I also agree with enjoy him while he's here. I want what's best for him and his chances of a career after college. So whatever decision he makes I hope whoever coaches him next year properly manages his knees.

Frankly, I think Kent has done pretty well by its big guys over the years and would think a player like Pippen would see the value in staying put over departing.

That said ... this is a different era and ego seems to have more of an influence over the mind.

I think if coaches can show Pippen he will have the kind of inside help next season he had with De La Rosa, he could really blossom.

He's starting to take the ball to the basket from the perimeter, which really should add to his arsenal for next season. If Pippen could embrace a jhook inside, that would complete the package.

Of course, the big boys will tell him all of that as well to get him on campus, but without the guarantee he has built in at KSU.

The biggest thing is Kent getting a few more bigs on campus, ready to play --- with Pippen or without. While I see the value in both Bennett and Bainbridge, they are both a looooong way from being productive top tier starters in the MAC.

I don't see it as a bad thing to have a player or players productive enough to use the grad school transfer rule to play for a P5 type program. It's like the P5 schools losing players early to the NBA, only at a lower level. I'd rather have two or three years of a really good player than four years of an average player.

Despite his height, I see Bainbridge as eventually being a 3 rather than a 4 or 5.

If this is true about Bainbridge ... Kent needs even more post players in the fold than we thought.

Well, it's just my observation about Bainbridge. Since I haven't seen that much of him, I could be wrong.

RE: Kent State @ Ohio State
I don't think Bainbridge will ever have the lateral quickness to defend true SFs.

One other comment on Pippen. The coaches could definitely use De La Rosa as a prime example for why he should stay. His new school wasn't interested in spending two years of scholarships on him to get one year. They were just interested in getting a role player and didn't care about what was best for his career. With Pippen having knee injuries that's something he should seriously think through. Microfracture surgery will be bullet point #1 on any NBA draft resume. So doing anything he can to avoid setbacks is incredibly important for him.

The coaches can also point to a player like Richaun Holmes as an example of a Pippen type player that can get drafted and stick in the league out of the MAC.

At the same time Pippen could be thinking Jimmy Hall didn't get an NBA sniff. If he left as a grad transfer would he have?

Hall was a good MAC player but did not have a NBA game. He had no game away from the basket. Pippen should stay where he is. Rob will develop and show case his talents in a senior year.

RE: Kent State @ Ohio State
For the '20/'21 basketball season, I believe it would be great if a KSU/OSU game could be scheduled at the Q (or whatever it is called today). It would benefit both schools since there is such a large OSU presence & KSU could claim it as a home game. It could even be part of a double-header, with either KSU women's game or another men's game with either UA or CSU against another school like WVU, Pitt, or whomever.

This is another area (marketing & aggressive planning) where the KSU athletic department is lacking. They need to up their game with men's basketball scheduling.

And while I am at it, I would love for KSU to visit the Philly area to play any of the big five schools. I go the Palestra to watch UPenn games & I think it would be pretty cool for the Flashes to schedule a home & home with the Quakers.
