yeah it's fairly clear to everyone but that guy.

Boise St could win by 100 but if Memphis wins, the Tigers will be in the Cotton Bowl.

Boise lost to BYU who lost to USF who finished 4th in the American East. Boise has a bad loss.

Cincy has no bad losses. Just two road losses at #1 and #18.

Lol at the transitive property. Doesn’t work that way

If so, then App State should be the clear G5 Rep, since they beat South Carolina who beat Georgia which is one of the best teams in the country.

Clearly that means App St would beat Georgia, right AACFanboyz?

See how ridiculous the transitive property is?

Like it or not, the concept of a bad loss is very much on the minds of selection and playoff committees.

Dude, this isn't about transitive property to say team X > team Y.
It is saying that Boise's loss to BYU is a bad loss, and App State's loss to Georgia Southern is a worse loss. Meanwhile, if tge AAC champ were two loss Cincinnati, one of those losses would be to #1 tOSU, and the second would be to a ranked team that they they turned around and avenged.

BSU's and ASU's losses look worse than Cincinnati's two losses, AND Cincinnati would have better wins also.

And it depends on how the committee defines a bad loss. I suspect it differs from fan opinion. I have no idea what the committee will decide, but the tidbit the Ark St. AD let slip held true in the rankings for a good bit...UC was not dinged for being shut out against a top team. They did flip flop with Memphis with the last couple of games when whole bodies of work were factored in.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens if UC and BSU win. Will they rule on sos as in 2014 vs. straight record or will BSU have some “name” cache?

Not much different resume than UC, whose 42-0 showing against OSU, albeit early in the year, is not indicative of a worthy two loss champ getting in. Plus, UC does not have wins over SMU and Navy this year.

You can take UGa or Fla at two losses, Utah two loss, or a third place B1G team vs Boise and get a nice turnout in Jerry World.

Ohio State also routed Wisconsin and Michigan by huge margins, so the lopsided score vs. Ohio State means nothing...they routed everyone, practically.

To date probably OSU's most successful season so far. They had a few fumbles that PSU capitalized on but besides that game they have hammered everyone. Give Michigan some credit for generating some offense via throwing it. Nonetheless OSU still hung 56 on Michigan at their place.

I very much doubt the selection committee will invest deep thought in choosing the G5 representative to the NY6. They will go with the simple answer they don’t have to explain to the masses.

That means Memphis gets the nod if it wins, Boise State gets the nod if it wins and Memphis loses, and App State gets the nod if it wins and both Memphis and Boise State lose. If all three lose, congratulations Cincinnati.

I think it's tough to see Cincy drop behind App St given where they were entering this weekend. Have to remember Cincy was 19 and App St 25. The CFP didn't like App St anywhere near as much as the polls- who had App St 22. And we'll know on Tuesday night for sure. If Cincy is ahead of App St- App St is done.

Not really much to separate the three other than Memphis. All had some breaks on the schedule vs. the other division in their league. Assuming each win a ccg:
Appalachian St.
7 wins (including FCS) vs. losing teams.
1 wins vs. 6-6 P5
2-1 vs. 7-5 G5
2-0 vs. 10-3 G5 (Louisiana)

Boise St.
5 wins (including FCS) vs. losing teams
1 win vs. 6-6 P5
2-1 vs. 7-5 G5
3 wins vs. 8 win G5 (8-4 and 8-5 Hawaii)
1 win vs. 10-2 G5

Cincinnati
6 wins vs. losing teams
1 win vs. 7-5 G5
2 wins vs. 8-4 G5
1 win vs. 9-3 G5
1-1 vs. 11-2 G5
0-1 vs. 12-0 P5

1 win vs. 9-3 G5
1-1 vs. 11-2 G5

Cincy 1 ranked win
Boise- maybe 1 ranked win if Air Force crashes the CFP top 25
App St- 0 ranked wins

That eliminates App St.

I think Cincy needs Boise to lose to get in. The CFP does like the computers, and Cincy has fallen to #23 against Boise's #19 in the computers.

Heck, even App State is above Cincy in the computers, #23 to #20.

It's unlikely a win over Memphis can cover that.

Memphis would look like this after a ccg win:
6 wins over losing teams
1 win over FCS with winning record
1 win over 6-6 G5
0-1 vs. 8-4 G5
4 wins over 10 win G5 (Navy 9-2, SMU 10-2, Cin. 10-3)

Memphis has 3 wins better than any Utah win, using Massey. Utah has been dominating PAC play though.

What does a Cincy win do vs a ranked Memphis compared to a BSU win vs. #61 Hawaii and AppSt has #34 Louisiana......could App St leap Boise, could UC leap both. We have to see what the CFP rating look like here soon.
