It's amazing to think but the National Signing day for football is 3 weeks from Thursday thru Saturday (Dec 19-21).… Going to be interesting to see how the classes come down.....

I absolutely HATE the early signing day date. It is too late in the year. In hoops it is before the season gets rolling and some high schools haven't started the season. The recruiting decisions are based on junior year and summer camps and AAU.

Twenty schools are contractually obligated to be at bowl sites during the signing period. Another handful of schools will either not have a coach or a coach on the job less than 14 days.

The SEC argued for an earlier date and I think they were right.

I like the early signing period, which has quickly become the de facto National Signing Day.

Get it over with, let the kids enjoy the rest of their senior year.

Should be the 1st Wednesday of December and last until the following Friday.

I like it too. There's no reason to extend the drama another 6 weeks until early February. These guys know where they're going.

RE: National Signing Day
the one thing that the early day has done is make it exponentially harder on new coaches.

Do it the week before Labor Day and let them REALLY have their senior season. We sign hoops players before they start their senior season or have only played a game or two.

Do it mid-October.

The current date absolutely insures there will be schools without a coach and there will be schools with a coach who hasn't been there two full weeks and barely got the job before the dead period hit.

Completely unfair to schools changing coaches especially the many who didn't choose to change coaches.

Tolerance for new coaches needing time is at a record low but we've taken away their first class. They'd be better off with what the last coach signed than taking over a job after early signing or early signing being a total bust because they had no time.

RE: National Signing Day
Why have any signing date? If a player is in his senior year and he and his parents know where he wants to go to school and the school is willing to give him a scholarship, why should they have to wait for a signing date that is arbitrarily set by the NCAA?

I have far more sympathy for the HS kids getting recruited than coaches with cushy jobs. Coaches, sack up and get the job done, or else schools, time the firing of your old coach to fit better with the signing date.

Cater to the kids, not the coaches and schools, IMO.

What an idiotic idea. Coaching changes can occur at any time. Just ask FSU.
