Post Week 13 Power Ranking
I didn't see one posted yet so I figured I'd start it off
1. App State
2. ULL
3. StAte
4. GS
5. ULM
6. GSU
7. Troy
8. CCU
9. TXST
10. USA
3-8 were hard to put in order as always

Yeah. Thinking 4 down was more of a challenge at this juncture. That top 2 could be a real dog fight in the CCG. I'm looking forward to that game.

RE: Post Week 13 Power Ranking
Minimal changes for me this week
1. Louisiana (-) - Absolute thrashing of Troy
2. App State (-) - Queue the App fans tears! Yes I have you 2nd again this week. I apologize in advance.
3. Arkansas State (-) - A-State really seems to have turned things around despite the injuries
4. Georgia State (+1) - Fairly comfortable win over USA
5. Georgia Southern (-1) - Tough loss in a close game
6. ULM (+1) - Close call but pulled it out
7. Troy (-1) - So, yeah, I guess Troy isn't back
8. Texas State (-) - Surprisingly competitive for 2.5 quarters at App
9. Coastal (-) - Poor Coastal can't seem to catch a break in conference play
10. South Alabama (-) - It'll all be over soon, Jags

I have app no 1. They beat us at home and looked good doing it. Hope we get back Hunt and Hill back for CCG.

Based on the performances on Saturday, I think you have to give the nod to UL for the #1 spot. Entire season, you have to stick with App especially since they beat UL head to head. But currently, UL certainly looks like the better team. If both teams win next week and the CCG is in Boone, that could factor in App's favor.

App has to win this weekend, I don't see us beating ULL on the road again. Looks like they're passing much better, which is scary.

RE: Post Week 13 Power Ranking
As far as how the teams are playing at this moment I give the nod to UL over App. App has gotten off to slow starts in three of it's last four games and can't afford to do so against UL. I hope App beats Troy and hosts the Championship because it will be very difficult to beat UL at home twice in one season. What a great matchup for the title! Where ever it's played I hope for decent weather.....

RE: Post Week 13 Power Ranking
Until the Cajuns manage to actually win one against App State, they are the better team. I think this matchup will be an attractive one for TV though.
I will say this, our QB has improved in his ability to use the pass effectively throughout the season. His accuracy in the short to medium range passing game is much better. He still struggles throwing the home run ball, but he is occasionally hitting one of those as well. This did not happen early in the year. The coaches are using his talent and skills in the best way possible.
And defense; this has been an area of huge improvement as the season has progressed. Coach Roberts has done an amazing job with the defense and I fear some P5 program may hire him away at the end of the season. He is the best defensive Coordinator I have seen at UL in my many years of following Cajun Football.
We are definitely trending up.. as is App state. We wanted to be in a strong football conference and now we are, but it did not happen the way most thought it would happen. I will gladly eat crow on this one.

One more thing, I wish we could have a do-over on the Mississippi State game. I sincerely believe the results would be different as this is a much better team than it was back then.
I usually never say this about any game, especially one against a P5 program, but this is a special team.

Since the App game you've played Arkansas State, Texas State, Coastal, USA, and Troy. None of whom could be said to have a quality defense.
It seems like you all are finally where you expected to be in terms of the Sun Belt but aside from the top, it appears the league as a whole is down this year from last. Arkansas State isn't bad but they aren't a defensive team. USA has a passable defensive but you get enough shots in because their offense is anemic. Coastal hasn't completed their recruiting cycle quite yet to have quality depth built in. And Texas State is in Year 0 again.
I suppose that's the only reason Louisiana isn't ranked in the Top 25 right now.

Nothing wrong with App’s D. Its gotten better as the season progressed. The offense might have some questions with Sutton out. But Harrington is returning and i think we will be fine. UL had a hard time with App’s D last time and I dont think that changes. The big question today is where will the game be played? If its in Boone App should be favored but if its in Lafayette I dont know. Clearly it will be a game of the best of the Sun Belt. Should be a GREAT game.

Its great to read a thread where the fan base has mutual respect for each other! This board might attract a better following if there was more of this and less of the BS that seems to creep in on way too many occasions!

I think in the first game Napier overthought his game plan, I was shocked, and very happy seeing as many rollouts by the qb, and running plays designed for the outside instead of running between the tackles, I don’t think he will make that mistake again, look for a lot of smash mouth football, and then going play action when APP brings up the linebackers to support the DL against the run.

Said this exact thing when I was watching the game. The gameplan they ran against us would have been a tough challenge to stop, but they decided to go in a completely different direction.

APP’s strength on defense is their speed, side line to side line, but to have that speed we sacrificed size, therefore we struggle more with teams that run straight at us. If ULL primary strategy is any else other than running right at us, and play action pass, than Napier and his staff should be run out of Lafayette.

Yup, and if we load the box to stop the run, their QB's improved play could hurt us pretty bad. We've been really good against the screen pass this year, though. It's the deep balls that have been hurting us the most.

Yeah tbh I’d have a hard time heavily disagreeing with anyone that has UL over App at this point. Since I’m biased I still have App #1, but our offense is just so inconsistent and things won’t be any easier now without Sutton

There is a reason he did the roll outs and that was because he knew Roof was going to do anything and everything possible to clog the middle. Force the running backs to bounce outside and utilize the speed you have on the edges to shut that down. Make the offense play sideline to sideline, pretty much.
The last match-up could've been a fluke but I feel like the success Louisiana had running the ball toward the end of the 1st half was more a product of Roof's play calling (see UNC and USC ending) than it was about Louisiana. Either way, both teams offensive game plans need tweaking.
